I would go to start-------->run--------> then type in : msconfig
then hit enter. A box will pop up, click on the tab all the way to the right(startup) click on the button that says disable all. This will turn off all the programs that start when your machine starts. Dont worrie you don't need any of them. This will not delete anything. Most likely you have a program that is running at startup that is causing your issues. You will need to restart you machine for the changes to take effect. Once you restart I would download and run ad-aware and Spybot - Search & Destroy(both are free). This may make your machine usable again, but most likely will still have the infection. You may need a professional to fix it. Trust me it will be worth it, instead of you trying to fix it and spending countless hours on it. I have been doing this stuff for 10 years. Anyone reading this post if you do the same thing about this will make your machine run faster if you are experiencing a sluggish machine. **Dont play around with any other tabs in msconfig!!! Trust me. PS. Say away from the porn and you may avoid this in the future! |

Free Anti-Virus software from WWW.free-av.com Download it to either your machine or someone elses(if you have a flash drive), install it, run it, accept the random reg code, allow it to update, do what itsjustdave suggested, the AV will run at start-up and delete/quarantine any virus on your system (except some Trojans). Get a program like PopupCop from www.shemes install it, and stay away from porn sites (they're only gonna rip you off anyway, and the pix you do see, you can get from elsewhere without the attached viruses, spyware, and charge to your bank account).

Trust me. PS. Say away from the porn and you may avoid this in the future! Good advice... with a caveat; Before selecting disable all in the Startup tab, peruse what's there. Your wireless card or other legitimae and/or necessary apps may be set to startup there. Reselect them before clicking ok. Also you may want to go the Services tab. Check 'Hide all Microsoft Services', then click 'disable all'. Some harmfull svcs may be running as service. If this works, your next step will be to go back and, after doing a google here and ther, reselect, one-by-one, the items that were deselected. A reboot between each will isolate the trouble maker. Going forward, a good suite of well configured Firewall, Antivirus, Anti-spyware, (etc)app(s) will be a compliment to carefull browsing. |
