I relocated from Utah,,4 yrs ago and totally love it here, I am close to coast, 3 blocks from ocean.. The weather is perfect, we work surf and hang out at the gym. Barbeques on weekend and constant visitors from out of town... Sooo Cool... Thanks for your time.. Enjoy life.bigsmile

Yes just like any other state Cali has its drawbacks.........but I think for me Cali has one of the most openminded and diverse communities in the whole country except for maybe Chicago and New York......the beaches i have to admit are beautiful(especially in San Diego)............yeah the people are stylish and they carry themselves with a manner of confidence which I havent seen in some of the states I have been in............I have to say it is expensive but its a state not for the uneducated and lazy (it will take you under).........but if you are ambitious and wanting to better yourself Cali is one of the most inexpensive places to get a college education..........I do love the fact that I can wear my bikini and bbq in xmas(not a fan of the snow) but then you can go to Big Bear and other such locations to enjoy a little of what the snow experience has to offer..................its really a trendy place and if you are trendy and love to look stylish at all times other than New York this is the next best thing..............All in all I love this state its an amazing place to live..................flowerforyou flowerforyou flowerforyou flowerforyou

I live in the base of the western sierranational forest 50 milkes east of sacrament. Within 2 and a half hours is over 200 lakes, rivers and streams. 7pm and in is 75 degrees 0% yes 0 % humidity. On a 1/2 acre of property over 50 3+ story high pine trees. Winter time 45 minutes from snoww sking. Beautiful and always something to do aan oh when I moved here I had mentioned how expensive firewood was and next day cam home to 2 cords of wood on my driveway and no one ever took credit. I am born and raised cali-man Love it!

i'm a Southern California guy & absolutely love it....i could go on for pages about all the cultural activities one can partake....free outdoor or indoor concerts at least 3-4 days a week....even the 4 L.A. county museums are free on select days & evenings weekly....the beaches are gorgeous...the mountains are right here between the city & my home....the ladies are hot...or cool....& there is always something going on....if you want to keep yourself active & involved.....people come here, they don't willingly leave & if they do, they end up wanting to come back....

Well said, CA Lady.
I live about an hour north of LA, 5 minutes from the beach and it is tee shirt weather 8 or 9 months of the year. We get a few weeks a year of weather in the 90's and a few weeks down in the 40's. There is morning fog a lot of times but it burns off by noon. The air is clean and the living is good.
The rest of CA is pretty awesome also. You can drive an hour north of LA and play in the snow, and later that same day lie on the beach and get tanned.
The highest point in the US (not counting Alaksa) and the lowest point in the US are only about 100 miles from each other, both in CA. Add in Yosemite NP, Sequoia NP, the coastal Redwoods NP, Lassen NP(with volcanic activity), Lake Tahoe (the worlds largest Alpine lake) and dozens of other natural attractions. Then add in SF, LA and San Diego and 1000 miles of coastline.
I could go on and on but I think you get the idea . . .

Having lived a lot of places in the United States I have mixed reviews for California.

The weather is great. Except for a relatively short blast of summer sizzle with a minimum of humiditiy you can't beat the number of sunny days. The sea breeze is awesome. So far when I have felt the earth move it hardly was noticable but trees don't grow deep and fall over on you or your property when the sea breeze turns into some serious wind. 75mph winds did $11,000
damage to my home.

Houseing is definitely higher if you want to live in the the semi-premium places you are going to have to probably have a room mate or two. If you have money to buy now is the time to do it while the forclosure market is pulling down prices at least 25%. If you don't have much money really watch for shadey leases and preditory lenders. Property is held by absentiee landlords and often you get little or no notice when they get fed up with bothering with tenants. Gangs do exist so don't think you will relocate and excape that issue. If you are on a fixed income you are in over your head in California. Lanlords are King.

Job market Sorry I don't know I am retired. Must be pretty good If you are in the building trades but I don't see much else. Lot of people have homebussiness. YOu don't dare get sick because they will ship you out of the ER if you are not dying.

YOu have to have a car. Gas is the highest in Nation I will get to the other stuff another day

what is a typical day over there weather like.
what is the main attraction in cali.

What's the main attraction in Cali? Well...

- you could experience the thrill of sitting for up to half-a-day in L.A.'s wonderful traffic, which is likened the experience of watching grass grow.

- you could get mugged while at one of L.A.'s many attractions, like Universal City Walk (just don't mind the burnt wood smell emanating from inside... just a wee little fire), or Disneyland (don't mind the little kids getting beheaded on the "Pirates of the Caribbean" ride... they've had to let go of their salaried maintenance techs and externally contract to save money), or at Six Flags Magic Mountain, which has had a record 50 brawls take place out there, thanks in part to the incredibly bored gang members who seem to enjoy hanging out there.

- you can also enjoy the fun of picking used syringes, broken glass, and sharp metal objects out of your feet as you spend a day at one of L.A.'s many beaches. And all while testing your skills by dodging the many beach bums and meth-heads who pervade the sunny Left Coast.

Yup... there's lots of fun to be had in Cali. laugh

yea, talk about your wonderful so. calilaugh

Beaches aren't like that in Northern Cali- Not ANY I have been to and I have been up and down all of PCH.. btw.. I have lived in so. cali and norcal...
And we don't have traffic half as bad as you all..
Although LA drivers are much better drivers, they are more aggressive and will just change a lane instead of half stepping and 'waiting for an invitation' which is so irritating.

Amusement parks ? Much more can be said about California than the Amusement parks...
Hearst Castle in San Simeon is really nice to go spend the day up at.. Cambria the town b4 San Simeon right off Highway 1.. a small town with it is quiet and beautiful.
Pismo Beach is a great place to venture off to as well Carmel and Monterey....
Monterey bay aquarium is sweet.
SF is a must see if you come to california as well if your out in Norcal.. you should stop by Napa and ride the wine train... many many things to do... google google google....
