The vegetarian diet has really helped. Also, now that it is summer, walking around outside and doing other fun activities is a great way to get into shape.

I found simple little things worked the best for me :) And made it easier to stick to *woohoo!*

--replaced whole milk with skim milk
--replaced poptarts with special K snack bars (I like the strawberry ones best)
--ate smaller portions spread out over the day, rather than big meals 3 times a day
--replaced mt dew with 1 diet mt dew in the morning and grape juice the rest of the day
--as I hate excercise and find it hard to stick to, I just started speed walking the dog each night for 30 mins

As a result, just making little changes and substitutions here and there, I've gone from a (well proportioned...I certainly didn't look it lmao) 155lbs to my current weight of 128.5 over a time frame of 2 months. I don't really feel like I've done much (I was also sick for about a week during that time, so that helped, but I wouldn't recommend it lmao) it's easy to stick to...and rather than try to do everything at once, just do it a little at a time. Find what your biggest weaknesses are that contribute to hindering weight loss (fatty/sugery stuffs...like my mt and poptarts and etc) and find something else you like almost as much but that's better for you...then just substitute them out. :D

puking seems to work well, though not too healthy. if you can, cut out salt, starchy food, sugar, and drink lotsa water (drinking lots of water is not only essential, but it's filling)happy . eat small portions of healthy things throughout the day, never letting your stomach grumble. try to stick to the green veggies. i do lots of stir fry and lettuce wraps. use straight up rice vinegar on yer salads or a flavored variety...yummy. if you're a coffee freak like me, invest in killer coffee and take it straight. if you get the good stuff, it's more flavorful and doesn't require sugar & cream. and of course, try to get some exercise. if you have a dog, walk the rascal! you'll both benefit from itflowerforyou

I'm mad and grateful. I had lost just over 20 pounds exercising and watching caloric and fat intake. Now that my leg is broken, I'm worried I'll gain it back, so I'm still watching the food quite a bit, but not starving!! The grateful part is that the break would have been harder to cope with if I weighed 20 pounds more. flowerforyou

here's another tip...if you can take spicy/hot food eat it (thai, indian, etc). this stuff is yummy and seems to go right thru me before my body has a chance to absorb any of it!laugh laugh

I suggest you get 2 small hand weights (2 pounds each) and use those while sitting on the couch since you can't walk. It helps keep building muscle and burn calroiesflowerforyou

-- small healthy meals throughout the day to boost your metabolism -- do Not skip meals!

-- bursts of exercise - from walking, dancing, yard work, etc., again helps your metabolism

-- Love the Kasha products -- healthy, mostly natural, some organic, and great tasting

-- Check out the SparkPeople website, great info on a lot of topics, exersise tips, nutrition, recipies, resouces, motivational daily emails, tracking ideas for progress, support teams, success stories, tips on just about anything you can think of!, etc.

-- cut out the unnecessary stuff, pop - diet or not, anything processed or packaged, the crap in that stuff is ick, go all natural, fresh, organic as much as possible

-- lots of water, it does the body good

-- get up and Move

-- get a 'buddy' to keep you both motivated

ohwell Gosh, you'd think I'd be the healthiest thing around if I followed my own advice above!! laugh

Really, check out the SparkPeople site...it's a goldmine of info!

if you shop at the regular grocery store, stay on the outside of the aisles and make sure you're not hungry when you go. try steaming your veggies or eating them raw. if you over cook them you diminish their vitamins and other important aspects. the only thing i have in my freezer is fish. i buy just enough veggies & stuff at one time to last until just before they would go bad. this ensures you always have fresh food and gets you off your arse and to the store more often (exercise). i know now that fuel $ is an issue but i'm assuming the store is nearby. another thing i recommend that is super helpful is...get yourself a good tupperware set and when you buy your gaggle of veggies, come striaght home and have a prep session. wash, slice, dice or whatever until they're all done and put them in separate containers in the fridge. this way, they're ready to rock when you want a salad or snack or are adding them to a cooked meal. it tends to be a pain in the butt to chop stuff up each time you wanna eat and you'll put it off. i drink wine with dinner every night too. don't know if that's good or bad but it sure feels nice:tongue:
