Don't you actually have to have a date first to be stood up? enuff said

That's more of a philosophical question if you ask me. Because if you got stood up, you didn't have a date. But you have to have a date to be stood up. Chicken/egg thing maybe. I think that you can be stood up without having an actual date. Because before you actually meet with someone it's just "plans," after you meet up, it's a date.

Well when I get to the plans stage I will keep you informed if I get stood up~ laugh

If it helps, I could plan on standing you up on say... Thursday?

Am I going to have a really neat story to tell that makes you look like a louse and makes everyone laugh?

It's happened to me a few times and the following is my favorite tale:

My date called me approximately 20 minutes before we were supposed to meet. She told me that she was running late and would likely arrive at the diner in a half an hour (meaning 10 minutes late...) So I get there and she's a no-show. WTF???

If she changed her mind could she have not told me when she called? Or if she needed to could she have not come up with one of a dozen different excuses? To this day I'm at a loss to understand this.

Anyone else have a good one?

I was stood up once... a grand total of five times. In the same day. By the same flake.

My date-that-never-was decided to call me up about two hours before the much-dreaded date to tell me she had "last-minute plans" and couldn't make it. "Fine", I say and I go about my (now dateless) business.

Then she calls up something like twenty minutes later and proclaims that her "last-minute plans" went kaput and that she was NOW able to go on our date. "Fine", I say and get cleaned up for the much-dreaded date.

Then she calls up again to say that she had some OTHER "last-minute plans" that had "just come up" and that she wouldn't be able to make the date, only to call AGAIN minutes later to say that she was now able to date.

In the end, she stood me up. She didn't even have the nerve to tell me that she couldn't make the date, either.

Of course, this was partially my fault, as I was a wee bit TOO understanding- I shoulda told her to get lost after the first time she did the double-switcheroo on me and leave it at that, but I was too caught up in being the dreaded "nice guy" and didn't. laugh

Damn bro... That one should have her photo up in the post office....

laugh laugh laugh laugh

That, or her picture shoulda been put on the back of a milk carton... to help find where her brain went!!! laugh

I have been stood up and at the time it made me mad but then I realized why would I want to be with someone that disrespectful and low class-

I have shown up for dates and regretted it but would always follow through and see the date to the end ...

just my .02

I will bite the bullet and say I have stood up a person, but then I was unconscous and in an ambulence on the way to the hospital, so not really my fault right?

When I called this woman while to find out where she was the first thing I said to her voicemail is that I hope you are okay and nothing has happened.

I'm guessing that most people will excuse you if that is the case.

However, as far as made up excuses go I'd suggest something a little less dramatic????

If only it was a made up excuse. I called him two days later when my mother got my cell out of the wreckage.

yup, only once though

she apologized afterward and was forgiven....

Actually I wouldn't mind going out with her again as long as she'd show up laugh

(she didn't show up originally for a 2nd date, lol)
