Topic: Much For Little | |
---|---|
How little it costs if we give a thought,
To make some heart happy each day! Just one kind word or a tender smile As we go on our daily way. Perhaps a look will suffice to clear The clouds from a neighbor's face; And the press of a hand in sympathy A sorrowful tear efface. It costs so little; I wonder why We give it so little thought. A smile, kind words, a glance, a touch- What magic by them is wrought! (No Author Given) |

Great use of the word Efface...
I looked it up in M. Websters online Dictionary... One entry found for efface. Main Entry: ef·face Pronunciation: i-'fAs, e- Function: transitive verb Inflected Form(s): ef·faced; ef·fac·ing Etymology: Middle English, from Anglo-French esfacer, effacer, from e- + face face 1 : to eliminate or make indistinct by or as if by wearing away a surface <coins with dates effaced by wear>; also : to cause to vanish <daylight effaced the stars> 2 : to make (oneself) modestly or shyly inconspicuous Nice work! |
