Topic: Spirituality, Philosophy or Religion | |
---|---|
Religion has been around for maybe 3,000 years at the very most. Spirituality and philosophy have been around for thousands of more years. Who decides what's right and what's wrong? Isn't it all upon an individual basis as to what we believe or disbelieve? In all my research and studies over the years the only proof that I've seen is that religion seems to segregate and tear each other apart rather than bring everyone together. Most of the wars in the last 1000 years have been over religions and whose is better. People have been burned, tortured, killed and gone into hiding due to their beliefs over the years. I believe the question becomes when does it stop and where does the peace and harmony come into play? ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() |

But isn't this cyber net a wonderful place to practice?
We cuss and discuss these options all the time in here. How far do we reach? All across the waters and nations. We tell our truths and listen to others' truths. We bicker back and forth and when it is all said and done...we learn something. Whether we wanted to or not. We learn. Where does it start and where does it end? I don't know....but isn't this a wondefful place to begin? We have at our disposal...the ears of the world. Careful what we say. Our words may cause harm, they cause love. This canvas we call earth is an astounding mass of minds, listening....telling. Kat |

I believe that when and if mutual respect and dignity are a universal expectancy and paramount to any social contract, then peace and harmony will reign.
We may not make it as a species to that point. But I believe in it. ![]() If the "scial contract" includes laws that do not exclude ANY PERSON being guaranteed the benefit of receiving mutual respect and dignity as a universal expectancy, then peace and hormony will reign. Of course that make the law of the land FIRST to be upheld, over religious preference. ![]() ![]() |

Why do we have to put expectations on anything? That would mean putting limitations on it wouldn't it?
If God is everything and everything is God, then how can we put a limit on anything if God is limitless? Everything we see, hear, feel, taste or touch is a part of and just another facet...Is it not? "We reap what we sow" If we want nothing but the best for everyone and everything don't you believe that we can do that in a collective consciousness? I know that I believe that there are more people out there that are inherently good and want peace and harmony to reign over the bloody wars that have killed countless people due to religion and politics. A few have mentioned dignity and respect. If we have enough dignity and respect for ourselves, it shows out to the rest of the world no matter how few people we're in contact with. When those people see it they wonder why they don't have it and then begin searching for it within themselves and the cycle begins...Does it not? If someone has something that you want aren't you going to try to figure out how they got it and how you can get it? There are quite a few people that posted that I would have quoted but I still haven't mastered this forum yet in order to quote each one of you. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() |

Or am I just another oddball? ![]() ![]() |

when we decide we do not want any rift between us and our fellow humans, and nature itself, and dismiss all forms of organized religion as it stands You, Sir, are a genius!!! |

Most of the wars in the last 1000 years have been over religions and whose is better. My imaginary friend is better than yours ... wonder which smart arse said that ... ? People have been burned, tortured, killed and gone into hiding due to their beliefs over the years. ... and still are. |
