Topic: Was Jesus Gay? | |
---|---|
I'm curious.... Would this be a topic that concerns you? Or would you be posting this topic to provoke a reaction? Accept half of what you see and none of what you read. Its to provoke a debatable reaction, of course. But then that is what these fora are about. I think thats awesome, Belushi. I like to see people challenge things that don't quite make sense, and have people debate and brainstorm to a better answer. Though its sad to get useless, brainless responses like, 'Jesus was not gay. What a stupid thing to say.' or Thats awful Its like.. "How dare you offer a valid point that offends me because its contrary to the perfect little picture I have in my head." Keep up the good work, Belushi. We need more open minds out there. |

The second and fourth posters have not got back to me in response to my questions ... But then Im waiting for the heavy God-Squad team to log on, and then the debate should start. It infuriates me that such intelligent people dont question as much as they should. Its not just Christianity I have an issue with, Im living in a Muslim country and I know as much about Islam as I do about Christianity. More blind faith, more people refusing to question "why" |

can you please tell me what verses you got that from because i don't remember that a fragment of manuscript he found at the Mar Saba monastery near Jerusalem in 1958, showed that the full text of St. Mark chapter 10 (between verses 34 and 35 in the standard version of the Bible)t from the new testiment in any version.... |

Even if Jesus was gay, what would that change about his over all message?
People need to let go of their homophobia long enough to realize that gay is not a bad thing. It is only one form of love. My concern would be that the text said it was a "boy" and that would make him a pediphile, now that I would agree would make him a bad guy. |

My concern would be that the text said it was a "boy" and that would make him a pediphile, now that I would agree would make him a bad guy. Yep ... totally. Matthew 8:5-13: and Luke 7:2: "One day a Roman Centurion asked him to heal his dying servant. Scholars of both Scripture and Ancient History tell us that Roman Centurions, who were not permitted to marry while in service, regularly chose a favorite male slave to be their personal assistant and sexual servant. Such liaisons were common in the Greco-Roman world and it was not unusual for them to deepen into loving partnerships .... Jesus offered to go to the servant, but the centurion asked him simply to speak a word of healing, since he was not worthy to welcome this itinerant Jewish teacher under his roof. Jesus responded by healing the servant and proclaiming that even in Israel he had never found faith like this! So, in the one Gospel story where Jesus encountered people sharing what we would call a 'gay relationship,' we see him simply concerned about — and deeply moved by — their faith and love |

Jesus' overall message is of peace, love and lightregardless of sexual orientation People need to get over the gay thing, who cares, they are just people like anyone else |

34and they shall mock him, and shall spit upon him, and shall scourge him, and shall kill him; and after three days he shall rise again. 35And there come near unto him James and John, the sons of Zebedee, saying unto him, Teacher, we would that thou shouldest do for us whatsoever we shall ask of thee.
so because they said they would do whatever he asked you assumed that he would say sex.....you really need to stop watching late night movie channels cause you're mind is all up in the gutter |

The "Secret" Gospel of Mark was only ever studied by one scholar, Morton Smith, and it has since disappeared. There is no evidence that the "Secret" Gospel ever even existed, other than pictures taken by Smith. A handwriting expert found similarities between the "Secret" gospel and Morton's own writing in Greek. Lastly, Morton Smiths initials are found on the page in one of the photographs.
The Secret Gospel is a forgery, that is an accepted fact by all but the most liberal of scholars. |

so because they said they would do whatever he asked you assumed that he would say sex.....you really need to stop watching late night movie channels cause you're mind is all up in the gutter ... and you really need to read the first post. Because you have missed the point entirely But, ok, lets say he is straight ... prove it to me Quote me chapter and verse where it definitively proves he is straight |

Well and considering the original of these texts was used by king James and then most of them destroyed after he took what he wanted and discarded the rest, we will never know for sure but I still stand on the premise how does it change his word? |

But, ok, lets say he is straight ... prove it to me Quote me chapter and verse where it definitively proves he is straight Wow, that's stupid. Par for course around here, but still really really stupid. |
