Barbus returns to the inn and follows the stairs up to Ifritius's room where he finds him meditating.


"Ahh nice to see you answered the owl old friend," Barbus says with a grin.

"About time you showed up you old pirate, I was starting to think you had gotten weak in your old age and gotten busted." Ifritius responds with a laugh.

"All right, So why did you drag me here? I know it is something big, remember the silent oath, the group may never be re-assembled for any reason, so if this is a reason, it had better be big," Spoken sternly by Ifritius

"Well, there has been some evils around here, something I may not be able to handle, and I figured that by giving you a couple days to warm up to Sinatorium, you would agree that it is worth protecting. Anyways, I am sure you had gathered, there have been two deaths here recently, and it looks like the killer is a highly powerful mage, similar to the Succubus we dealt with protecting Jericho the Old. One of the slain, actully was a decendant of Jericho the Old, and a friend of mine, so I will stop at nothing even if it kills me to avenge his death." Barbus speaks with concern.

"Well about that, Barbus, have you not thought it odd that a halfling such as myself has lived this long? I did some research, we cannot die friend, we absorbed the powers of the two gods we killed, and as a added bonus, which I think is a curse, we are now immortals, gods if you will." Reluctantly explained by Ifritius "The only way to kill one of us, or any person that has been granted immortality through the destruction of a god, is to use the "Arcane Blade of Cold Fire," Which I don't know how you got to have in your possession, but, I noticed the work done on your brother." Ifritius continues on and on about their immortality, including the white glowing blood, and the vampire downstairs and her wanting to be detached from her leader, and needing blood, and the risks involved in the conversion.

Barbus asks about why the rest of his group never made it here, and was told that they never did make it out of the underdark, and that we are the last two, and if he hadn't noticed, that with each of their deaths (possibly eaten by major demons of some sort) that we the living got more powerful.

Finally, an agreement is met, and the two will be working together, just like old times.

The Story Continues..

Calliope awakes slowly and finds Alatariel lying next to her. She is somewhat surprised, but very happy to have her special friend. She smiles and watches her on the bed and rubs her tummy. She thinks to heself, I hope someday, I will be blessed with a child myself, but that is far in the future. She slides off the bed very quietly as to not disturb her. She is feeling rather weak and parched so she leaves Alatariel.

As she walks down stairs she mumbles, "Wait a minute, the last thing I remember was being in the cellar with Pan." She enters the tavern and sees Barbus and Ifritius talking amongst themselves.

"Hi Barbus, Im so glad you are back, everyone has been asking about you. Good Morning, Ifritius, would you care to join me for something to eat," she smiles and flutters her eyes, "You too, Barbus...." She stands there looking at her special chair.

*Alatariel wakens to find Calliope gone*

Barbus and Ifritius nob yes to the offer for a meal...Calliope goes to the kitchen...

*Alatariel walks into the room*

Calliope comes out of the kitchen to write the menu on the slate behind the bar....

Roasted boar's tail with hot sauce
Cheese and egg pie
White beets
Milktoast

She turns her head as she is writing and smiles. "Hi Alatariel ...Was something wrong last night? I saw you sleeping and didnt know what to think."

XI (day 4) of the time of the fall era

A fast riding messenger rides in the midnight hours quickly up the hill of Sinatorium to deliver a message to Lord Elkinsinan.

It reads:

Dear Lord Elkinsinan,

Please put up your best defenses the town has to offer for demons have entered the lands. Our army has finally lost control of the situation after 90 days of fighting. It will not be long before we have to retreat from the cave of Mora****ar unless we get immediate reinforcements from our king.

We hope that the demon hordes will not reach your town soon as we put in our best efforts to push them back into the undergrounds where they belong. If you have any men to spare send them immediately to us.

Morning Calliope. Glad you are feeling better. You gave me quite a scare. You were trapped in the cellar yesterday. Do you not remember?

She looks confused. "I remember taking Pan down there to catch mice,,OH MY GOD,,Where is he".she runs to the cellar door and calls for him. Pan jumps up onto her, "meow, meow, meow,"..she holds him in the air and says, "You dont look to hungry to me"

"Alatariel, Why did I scare you?" wondering look

A soldier walks in and posts a sign.

Calliope reads it:

"Oh no. This is terrible news. Barbus, have you gathered any comrades in your travel?" she speaks with a very worried voice.

You were unconcious and dehydrated when found you yesterday. We couldn't even wake you to get you to drink.

Well I am off for my daily walk. And yes I will be careful.


*Alatariel leaves the inn and makes her way to the woods*

*As she tries to leave guards stop her and tell her that she may not leave town. Upset and distraught Alattariel makes her way to the guild*

*As Alatariel enters the guild, she sees the same little dwarf that is always standing there. It is almost like he never takes a day off. The dwarf sees her and the silver pin she is wearing and waves her on through to the back.*

*Barbus makes his way down the stairs, closely followed by Ifritius*

I am afraid, all I could get was Ifritius, he is the last man standing of my old group, but do not worry, I know that the inn is crawling with able bodies that are willing to fight for the cause. As long as we are here, there should be no excuse for failure, your people can come to either of us for advice, or healing, Ifritius is highly skilled in the arts of magic, and can identify most unknown magical items that you may find on your adventures, and he could make a sick man well, a dead man walk again, his magic, you could say, ALMOST knows no limits.
