Trust your gut on this one, but if you do give him a chance leave the baggage in the closet. Not fair to him to put someone elses issues on him just because of a physical resemblance to someone in your past. Best of luck whatever you do.

Hmmmm.... if a spiritual advisor doesn't know the answer, then, I can't possibly help!! You ought to try. You will evenutally see this man as his individual self and notice him transmute from your conception of your deceased fellow into the man who is truly in front of you. flowerforyou

I would say to give him the chance... get to know him... it may be hard getting your ex out of your head but you can't hold that against this new guy... your smart enough to know this one is not your ex... give him the benefit of a doubt before you cast him aside....

I don't think should or shouldn't is the question .It depends on if you want to or not .Just because someone wants to know you doesn't mean you have any obligation at all.you have to do what is best for you flowerforyou

If this new guy turns out to be verbally abusive as well, or has those signs, I suggest 2 courses of action:

1) Run
2) Introspectively, see what qualities about you are attracted to abusers.
