I cannot skip
Or jump a rope So people treat me Like I'm a dope I may talk funny My speach is slurred So my heart You have not heard I know we'll never Look the same But take the time To ask my name I spend my time In a wheel chair While out in public You sit and stare I need small bites Or pureed food Don't laugh at me That's just rude I need some help To dress and stay clean You act like that Is something obscene I get up each day And go to work Yet you make jokes Then point and smirk I have been called Some hurtful names But everyone Your ignorance blames Don't call me tard Moron or fool Just because You see me drool Jesus knows Your true heart You and I Are not so far apart I work in a home for mentally and physically challenged adults and I just want people to realize that they have feelings and deserve to be treated decently. |

Awesome ((((Vicki )))). I work with physically and mentally disable children (K-8) at my local school district. It's amazing how some people think just because they are 'different' they don't have feelings or can hear what is said about them. I assist a 7th grade boy in walking...he suffers from seizures so he wears a helmet to protect his head during falls. The 'normal' kids are always asking me, "Why does he wear a helmet?"...I always answer with, "Because he's cool! Where's yours?" Then follow-up with a short explination that it is to protect his head.
Oh the stories I could share during my 9 yrs. in working with these beautiful children! |

That was real good Vicki...I've seen the stories in there when I did pet therapy for a nursing home. It is sad.

Oh yes!! When God opens those books and reads what some people have said and done to HIS children...Well I really don't have to say any more!!!
Great message and write!! |

My thanks to all of you for reading this and helping me make people take a second look at the things they say and do before they do them. I love the people I work for and with and see myself as being blessed to have the opportunity to be a teacher and helper to these people that need me so.
