get over a friendship that went bad?
Time is supposed to help with everything...but what about for those first few hours, days and weeks after you end things? I can't take this. |

Mentally turn your back and walk away, keep occupied so you don't think about the person in question.

It sucks, but I look at it this way.
If they "wronged" me in some way, it's their loss, I'm honest, and loyal to a fault, so if they got pissy and ended the friendship then they really lost out on something. If I ended it, then it's their loss, cuz they should have been a better friend in the first place, I'm pretty tolerant of alot of things. Someone ended a friendship with me because they acted a fool then wanted my sympothy, I told them I didn't want to talk to them for a day, cuz I was angry about what they said, then come to find out they had delusions of grandure about "dating" me. Now they do things to try to get under my skin, it's pretty comical actually. Ending friendships sucks. Try to look at it in perspective, if they were really your friend, it wouldn't have ended. |

I'm still tryin to get over a 20 year friendship that went bad about a year ago. With about a year of it going bad. We were like brothers. The dude started "Back" doing dope and decided it was worth more to him than our friendship. I will always have hope that he will come to his senses and wake up before he is found dead. One thing is for sure, it won't be me that finds him. If he ever does come out of it, I will still be here.

I think you are friends with people at a certain point in your life and the friendship either grows and changes as you do or someone gets left behind. It will just take some time.Good luck.

He was basically my one and only friend so it has been hard for me to just let go...no matter how he has treated me. We would sometimes argue and then just give it a few days and then hang out again. But I just can't take the way he expresses anger anymore. It's so up and down all the time I just feel worn out inside. Yet I was "taught" that you don't give up on things that are tough in life and you remain loyal. Let's face it...being completely alone doesn't thrill me either.

Eh... My best friend of three years and I just recently called it quits.
Whats helped me is staying angry with her. Reminding myself why I pushed her out of my life. Im unsure if that would help you any... Just think... If they were a true friend, they would be calling you up and asking to make things right. And... if that doesnt work. Theres medication to help you forget about it! Hah.. Meh... |

Find a good friend that will listen and be there for you. Allow yourself to cry and feel anxious. Watch tv, read a book, visit the water. Eat icecream, chocolate. Rest if you can. Sleep. Go shopping. Write or journal. Exercise. Spend time with a close family member. Ask for a hug.
Be well. |

This actually happened to me after a 9 month relationship... being totally caught off guard just about broke me.... KEEP BUSY!!!! When you finally heal you will realize it was a good thing that it ended but it probably just ended in a bad way... and YOU WILL FIND SOMETHING BETTER... maybe not as soon as you like but it will happen!
HANG IN THERE! |

Yeah...that's the embaressing part- when we argue...I never get "that call"....I end up doing the dialing and hope he turns on his phone which usually takes over a week. If he weren't my main friend I think it might be easier to just let it go? |

It's maddening to leave messages that never get returned.
