I see three categories of car names:
1) Grand real words meant to appeal to a particular market. 2) Made up words that resemble exciting concepts, e.g. Subaru Impreza. 3) Obscure names that are real words but only SOUND exciting. My favorites are the number threes. For example, the Chevrolet Impala. How many of you know that an "impala" is an African antelope? Any others out there? |

Well if you don't like the "names" of cars, or what car companies have thought up... you should like the recent trend of letters and numbers now.
Acura used to have the Legend, Integra, Vigor... now they have the RL, the TL, the TSX... Mazda used to have the Protege and the Millenia. Now they have the 3, the 5, and the 6. There's still some good names out there. Volkswagon used to make the Phaeton. Lamborghini makes the Murceialago. Saab used to make a sport version of their 9-5 sedans called the Viggen. And don't forget, now we have the Smart ForTwo. (Built by Mercedes, btw..) (= |

How about the PT Cruiser that offers the only "wood grain" doors on the market (I hope?). The last time I saw that was the Caprice Wagon.
