Wow. Talking about collect calls made me think of those stupid 1-800-COLLECT commercials from a few years ago. Can't even remember the last time I called someone collect.

collect from jail.I got a collect call from a jail.I didn't accept.I was told people are calling from jail doing some scam.Does anyone know about this scam? Yeah. The convict will try to give you some story where you'll end up pressing * and two numbers. What that will do is temporarily give THEM control of your phone, which they'll use to run up YOUR phone tab. The charges can be pretty stiff, too. There was a big ol' thing about it on the news a while back. Pretty screwy stuff, there. |

Most new phones don't have that switch on them, just really really old phones. But hey, happens to three people in one town the news will take it skyward. |
