Actually, I always walk it back and put it back where I got it. People think I am crazy when I do that but I remember working retail when I was a teenager and I hated finding things all over the place.

I worked retail when I was in high school and customer service for a Mortgage company before the industry took a dive. I must say I have so much more patience for the people on the other end of the phone when I call customer service, they really can only do so much! |

A freaken men... Everyone should work retail once in their life. also a waiter/waitress and customer service. I bet ALOT of azzholes would not be so azzholey.... Dream on, Lily! Well here is what I know from my experience.... If you don't put stuff back and leave it anywhere, and they see you do it, and then later you ask where something is, they will run you all over the store, or if you are in a hurry, they will take their time checking you out. Give you a hard time at the check out, by whatever means necessary If you give a server a hard time, you're getting a sneezer or a hocker in your food. And customer service, you won't get crap from them...they have the ability to "bend" the rules, and won't do it for you. Most of the time the "supervisor" you talk to is the person in the next cubical who eats lunch with that person who passed the call off....so, you ain't getting anything from them either. So think about that next time you treat people like crap. (not you sandra...I mean this in general) |

I used to get lost in those big box stores, so I stopped shopping there altogether.

honestly it depends on what it is and how far away i am from where i got it, if its something that will spoil if not kept cold it goes back where it came from, if its say a toy that my kid was beggin for and i get it for them and they start acting up in store then it goes whereever i can get rid of it first
unless i'm still in that end of the store then i'll go put it where it belongs |

Awesome topic and no, I put it on another shelf I am walking by. I consider it job security for the floor clerks....

Anyone who has ever worked retails knows what a big pain this is. Admittedly I work in a bookstore so it's a from open/close putting stuff away where it belongs, I would never dream of doing that in another store.
What is the big deal if you don't want to walk to put it back to leave it with an employee (you'll see them wondering around) or leaving it with the cashier who will than make sure it ends up where it belongs. If you can only imagine tracking down 1 specific item (in my case a book) that you only have 1 of, and a customer decided to ditch it somewhere in BFE think we'll find it under 5 seconds for you not likely. We have a staff of 4-5 people each evening that spends 2 hours just putting items away and cleaning up. And the whole job security thing is a rip off, any retail store always have enough projects and things that need to be done that is than having time taken away because of messy customers. |
