the united states is not a democracy it is SUPPOSED to be a republic (but i am doubting that more everyday) Hey. At least there are other citizens, besides me, who realized that we aren't supposed to be mob rule! sound like jefferson war A democracy is nothing more than mob rule, where fifty-one percent of the people may take away the rights of the other forty-nine. Thomas Jefferson The Republic is gone, the Democracy is gone, this is now a neo-fascist parlimentary state. At least that's the best description I can think of. it is very close at least when they start using the patriot act on the people it will be even worse after all the gov of new york is probably a terrorist his phone needs tapped (ooooppppsss guess they are already using it against the people) yes sickening everyone that was invoved in passing patriot act should be tried for treason and shot if/when found guilty |

Thomas Jefferson Thats probably where I got the idea from. Reading the writings of the founders is something that should be done in High School. Forget doing a book report on Shakespeare. Do a book report on Federalist Papers or the writings of Ben Franklin. |

So, I'm not the only one using the Facsist word when describing what we are becoming. Thats also good to know... well, not good... but at least I know I'm not just imagining things. |

I like to think that when the Patriot act passed, there was a group of old Germans sitting around going "Jah, das ist gut." Fatherland, sorry I mean Homeland Security is definately a problem organization that should be removed from existance. Of course I've been watching the powers of the police state grow every year in this country. Most people don't recognize it as such, but we do have a large military organization on the ground in every city. Oh they wear blue, and have shields, but they are military, and rarely have to suffer any penalty when they go out of line (see unarmed dead groom with 55 gun shot wounds in NY). This will get a lot of bad responses, but I'm saying it anyway... Stop Fascism, kill a cop. |

After they've locked us in Quantanimo for writing this thread, are you going to feel the same way? The tree of liberty must often be refreshed with theblood of tyrants and patriots. |

Well, I sure won't be buying my captors a christmas card anytime soon, but I won't violate my principles unless it's absolutely necessary.
"The tree of liberty must often be refreshed with theblood of tyrants and patriots." So true...sad, a little frightening considering current events, but true. |

In our society, assassination will not remove the tyrants from power, just change the current tyrant. Apparently you've never had a "kick warrent" served before. It leaves a mess, and they don't even have to serve the damn thing. Plus when they find nothing, you have no recourse. If this does not describe the abuse of authority, I'm not certain what a definition would be. |

No knocks warrants are as sure a violation of the 4th amendment as "free speech zones" are a violation of the 1st.
