He Would

Today if he could smell,
Eat favorites
That I cook,
I think he'd tell,
Me, glad he is
Home,and with his mom.

Today, if he could sleep,
In peace time,
Rest his eyes,
Stop the jerking,
Jolting pace.
Be home, with me, his mom.

Today, I would stop everything
And give him just my hug.
Feed him, wash and soothe his brow,
I feel his heart strings tug
For now, he wants his mom.

He is a man that would indulge
A boy that's grown with pride
A soldier serving,where he lives
Right now in distant strides.
He would as he has done before
And certainly, now, would come,
He would delight to be with me
He would cause I'm his Mom.
