Hidden Sound .(Thought I'd dust er off)
When I was a little boy, I took a piece of sound, That someone said, but didn't mean, then trampled on the ground. Then I put it in a box, and then the box beneath the bed, When it made a tiny little yell... Peace was what it said. So I left the box under the bed, wondering what it would say, To humor me when I was bored, to save for a rainy day. But I'll tell you now that this little box, was no ordinary thing, Specially designed with me in mind, it could withstand anything! It had titanium sides, and iron hinges! A miniature golden clasp! Not to mention a petroleum covering, to protect from Time's solid grasp. But that rainy day never did come, And I forgot about my piece of sound, Underneath my unkept bed, Locked away and bound. I, into manhood had grown. And it, it wasn't as strong as before. It's petroleum covering had torn away. And it's clasp was scarred and worn. I, like time, had passed on. It, had remained on the floor. I, was spared our gruesome end. It, lived to see the last Nuclear war. And as the rockets pierced the air! And every human turned to stare! My box sat serenely on the floor, Watching the passing of a silly war. And that silly war took an ironic bend, but for my box, a little worse for wear, Not one thing lived to see it's end! There was radiation everywhere! And not one thing left to say, That Human beings had ever lived there... Except, ... for my box, floating high through the air. Sent to the sky by the very last flare. It came tumbling down to meet the ground, or what was left of it anyway. And there it lay in utter silence ... It's golden clasp had melted away... So upon it's contact with the ground, the lid popped open, and out tumbled sound. A piece of sound, trembling with fear, Yelling for peace, with no one to hear. With Equescent thoughts...
