Even if OPEC raised their production, which would lower prices, it would do little good since the oil companies have failed to build additional refineries!

The oil companies have failed to add additional refineries because for the last 35 years the enviro nazis have fought every attempt to build a new refinery until the oil companies gave up. Why don't the Sierra Club, Greenpeace and the rest of the enviro kooks step up and take credit for their part in creating this mess.

Why are there no new refineries? Well, go check out the environmental movement. Takes about 20 years to get the permits and studies done for siting. Then, here come the lqawsuits. You bet, lets nationalize the oil industry, then the auto industry, and then, lets nationalize the unions, then lets hang all the union members by the neck until dead, along with the environmentalists since both groupos are responsible for the dying of the american economy:angry:

This doesn't make since since the oil companies have in fact shut down existing refineries and boosted production at others. By making improvements they have been able to boost those facilities production totals without reducing capabilities, and only operating those facilities at 85%.
Experts instead site the reason as economic. There is very little profit in refining and huge profits in maintaining the existing practice of raiseing prices over and over.
Their are existing shut down facilitie's sites that could be upgraded with modern technology without the need to procure permits, and the time required to receive the permits necessary to build new ones is estimated at 8-12 years depending on effort placed in applying for the permits, and by using closed military facilities could be even less.
This is a mute argument considering Oil companies have not even attempted to open new ones and have instead chosen to shut down half the ones that were in operation 30 years ago.
There is one man attempting to open a new refinery in AZ. He is in his 6th year of doing so, but is currently waiting on a Presidential permit before he can proceed further. This is a brand new facility on a brand new site. Other than him there have been no attempts to do anything since 1976!

You guys are just listening to the excuses offered by Oil Co.'s and accepting that as fact. I have read and researched the reasons.
And dont ask for links, I dont have them now, all that just came from my brain. (memory)

I could excuse the Oil Companies lack of effort in applying for permits and attempting to build new refineries while making obscene profits, if they at least upgraded and reopened some of the facilities they shut-down or were investing in finding alternative fuel sources.
However they arent!grumble grumble

I have a question.
Maybe someone here can answer.
How many Democrats are directly involved with the Oil Companies?

I really dont know, but surely there has to be at least one!

I wouldn't say that is a pointless point.laugh

I just dont know of any. I wouldn't mind giving them the blame too. I dislike all these money grubbing, people forgetting, politicians not just Republicans.

I am anti-incumbent. Too many politicians sit in Washington for life. It makes them greedy and they forget who put them there. I will not vote for one of these Professional politicians and if everyone else would take the same attitude as me we could begin to solve some of our problems!

I wouldn't be doing my civic duty if I didn't mention the devaluing of the dollar by the Federal reserve.

When you're dollar only buys 20 cents worth, you're gonna find yourself shelling out more dollars for the same amount of goods.
