Im restoring an 1856 platform scale for a museum now. this is a picture of one just like it, about in the same shape i would say. This pic is of one for sale on ebay, The one im working on came from a local grainary.

I just recently started my own little project, making my own headboard. All by myself and must admit I like working with wood.

yah theres like 4 moving parts on a platform scale. way easier than wrenching on a modern conveyance if the truth is to be known. The hardest part is researching the correct colors, and things like that. Some say i shouldent paint them at all, others like the shiny new look. I prefer the latter myself. The museum dont care as long as it works when its done.

yah wood is fun to play with. Ive been taking over my dads woodshop lately since he has been sick. Mostly restoratins and display cases for museums.
