Topic: Evangilism | |

I take notice of one thing as I read these differnent forums. First of all most of the big hit ones are religious. Why? People love to argue! Something deep down inside of causes a indescribable feeling when they get their point accross flawlessly.
I am a christian so I must say to other christians. People it is casting pearl before swine in here to think you can change anyones mind in here by a few pixles of your typing sense. The world is only out for one thing and that is getting it's point made. You will exahaust yourself for hours with these people online and get nowhere. A relationship must first be made in witnessing to someone BEFORE exhaustive evangilism. Otherwise the person listening (or reading for that matter) cannot see how YOU live your life. The fruits of the spirit must be manifest and seen. So please don't give the world opportunity to begin an argument leading other's astray ignore them. Nothing they say can stand against the wisdom of the Lord! 1 Corinthians 1:18 For the word of the cross is foolishness to those who are perishing, but to us who are being saved it is the power of God |

Better be careful. the JSH "nice patrol" is out and watching. been seeing people get banned, posts removed even if what is said is the honest truth. You know the saying "truth can hurt"..well here in Pleasantville..I mean JSH..thing must remain "pleasant' to be left on here. so watch those "P"'s and "Q"'s and don;t ruffle any feathers on the old wet hens. |

Otherwise the person listening (or reading for that matter) cannot see how YOU live your life
Why should how someone lives their life have anything to do with religious beliefs? It’s perfectly clear to anyone who has eyes and can see that there are many very righteous non-religious people. And there are many clearly unrighteous people who vehemently preach religion. The bottom line for me is that the religious doctrine that you are referring to requires that I believe in a self-proclaimed jealous God who can only forgive sin if he is appeased by blood sacrifices. The story goes on to then have this same God purposefully manipulate men into slaughter hims so that he can appease himself by yet another blood sacrifice. He’s telling men that if they murder him he can forgive their sins? I don’t care how righteous someone might be who believes in this story, that doesn’t make it any less incredulous. There are simply better pictures of God to be found. Why believe in a God who is appeased by blood sacrifices and always solved problems using violence, and mass drowning, when there are better pictures of God to be had? Why insult God by implying that God would be so ignorant, unwise, and vicious as the biblical story depicts when there are pictures of a perfect God who has truly unconditional love to offer? A truly perfect God who created a universe were no souls can be lost? I don’t consider the merits of this story based on the behavior of the people who claim to believe in it. I consider its merits based on its own plot. Nothing more, nothing less. It's not a personal 'war' to me. It's just an intellectual thing to me. I wouldn’t want to show God this biblical picture of a God who thrives on blood sacrifices and say, "Hey I thought this was you!" I'd rather show God a perfect picture of a perfect God and say, "I thought THIS was you!" After all, if God is forcing us to guess woudln't we want to choose the best possible guess? |

SPQR..I'm sure cristians in ancient ROme knew what that meant ;) is an initialism from a Latin phrase, Senātus Populusque Rōmānus ("The Senate and the People of Rome" or "The Senate and Roman People"), referring to the government of the ancient Roman Republic, and used as an official signature of the government. It appears on coins, at the end of documents made public by inscription in stone or metal, in dedications of monuments and public works, and was emblazoned on the standards of the Roman legions. |

Abra! It happened! You claim that you are annoyed when people proseltyze. I have seen it twice in 49 years. The first time was at the airport on my way to boot camp in 78 and two Moonies wanted to sell me a paper flower. The second was an hour ago while I was in the parking lot loading materials for a job and two bike riders told me they were missionaries for the Church of Latter Day Saints. I said Thanks but I am not interested. Did they beat me with a bible? Point their finger and scream that I was going to hell? Look down their noses at me? Nope. They smiled, said "thank you" and "God bless" then rode away. I can hardly bear the pain they inflicted upon me and didn't even know I was a Christian. Be strong young man. You can do it too.
On a lighter note I can understand how you could be irritated by the same thing happening to you being atheist. It simply did not bother me. |

welcome to the incessant insults and maligning of your faith, Lance.
metaphors are lost on here. So are the beliefs of others that are not made known without being destructive to others in the process. Some here expect to spew forth without check and balance and insult with autonomy. Some do this without ever being clear about their beliefs, but will be swift to remind you of their mainpulations of yours. It is a good exercise in humility. There are many wonderful people here that are not representative of irreverent and disrespectful comments. I hope you make many friends here. |

Most of my life was living as a non-Christian in the Bible belt and none of the stuff the people around here weep and gnash their teeth about happened to me. |

I lived in South Carolina for six years where there is are as many churches as there are convenience stores and it never once happened. Amway folks were a different story though. |

I dont know what its like where you live but I live in Evangelical-central. Some of these people are crazy. I grew up and attended religious school here K thru 12.Why do you think I am a 30year old college student? I know what Im talking about. You could possibly go to jail for denouncing the church in public.(Disturbing the peace or Menacing).I only started noticing that these things are unusual the last couple of years I know you people (from elsewhere)wont believe me.

No, I believe you. I have heard of areas like that. Apparently Kerry O lives in such an area. I have simply never experienced it. Yes it would irritate me even as a Christian if it were to happen often I guess. |

If that's true, then you need to get yourself jailed, then take it to court and own that town. That's wrong, if it is happening. But I can't help but think you exaggerating.
I know mindless Christians, I used to live among them. My Aunt and Uncle and their kids were all woefully uneducated in Christianity and everything was "of God" or "of the Devil". Heck, my ex wouldn't let me play EverQuest, because she said it was "of the Devil". Then I challenged her to try the game and she loved it. She has a 69th level Rogue in WoW. The point is that there are many people who haven't been forced to think outside of the box. They aren't bad people, they are just wearing blinders. |
