as a child.....i was told "A child is to be seen not heard" so, my brother and sisters did not speak much at all when we were little.*****How about you-all on JSH??***** also we did not eat meals at the main table; that was for the adults.we were told take a cold potato and (Wait) in the corner till later, then maybe you can have something.

I also heard that children are to be seen and not heard.
I have raised my child differently. I want my child to know how express feelings and communicate and know that their opinions count. In my opinion, dinnertime is family time. |

Wow. I feel the need to give you a hug. I find it strange that you grow up in such an Oliver Twist like world.

Grew up with a single parent, 2 sisters and a brother, brought up to be very open and honest no matter what and we were all treated equal, we all were asked our opionions and thoughts...there was no silence in my family.
I feel sorry for you. |

I was raised to believe that the beatings would continue until my morale improved. Interesting. I was always taught that my morale would continue until the beatings improved. |
