How many of you are aware that our tax dollars are used to support Carter's "Carter Foundation."

Former President Jimmy Carter has gone too far.grumble His recent meeting with the anti-Israel, pro-terrorist group Hamas is an abuse of power and misuse of American citizens' hard-earned tax dollars. We should not allow for our federal dollars to support terrorist negotiations! Stand with Members of Congress and the ACLJ in calling for an immediate halt of federal funding to the Carter Center.

I have, through the ACLJ, American Center for Law and Justice, founded by expert federal/civil rights counsel Jay Sekulow, sent the following to my congressional representatives. If any of you feel the same, I hope you let your representatives know how you feel about Carter's misuse of our tax dollars.

"As a a tax-paying citizen, I stand with Chief Counsel Jay Sekulow in calling for an immediate halt of federal funding to former President Jimmy Carter's Carter Center. I am outraged by his recent meeting with the terrorist group Hamas and condemn any federal support of Carter's organization as a result of this misuse of power. America and her citizens do not negotiate with terrorists. I firmly support this longstanding doctrine and respectfully ask you to do the same. Please immediately pull the plug on federal funding of the Carter Center."

I do not know what is happening to Jimmy Carter, but he has really gone overboard with this latest 'stunt.' He undermines not only our President, but our Congress as well and makes the citizens of the United States look like blundering fools.

Oh, this was nothing compared to Senator Rockefeller meeting with the leader of Syria immediately prior to President Bush deciding to go through with the invasion of Iraq as it was still being debated in the UN.

Senator Rockefeller admitted that he told the leader of Syria that no matter what happened in the UN, the US was going to invade. He stated he knew this for fact, we must assume by that point made that he had inside information. He relayed this information to the leader of a country who for decades was on the State Department list as being an enemy of the US and their allies and being a state sponser of terrorism.

Nothing happened to Senator Rockefeller. He committed treason as far as I am concerned.

As well, after Carter left he pretty much said that he felt he had made great strides towards peace in the region. And then, after he left the Hamas leader pretty much laughed in his face.

The Hamas leader Khalid Mashaal, said this right after Carter left:

"We accept a state on the [1967] line with Jerusalem as capital, real sovereignty and full right of return for refugees, but without recognizing Israel." - http://news.aol.com/political-machine/2008/04/23/hamas-disses-carter/

The ONLY thing Hamas made of Carter was a delivery boy as they allowed him to deliver a letter to Gilad Shalit's parents, the Israeli soldier still held captive by Hamas.

The only way for democracy to work is to have talks and negotiations.

If were are going to look at Palestine as bad, lets take a look at Isreal. A friend of mine just went over to Isreal with a missionary relief group. She went off the beaten path and saw how Isreal is forcing Palestine residents off the land by building walls, very tall walls around towns and even individual homes with only a tiny gap to get out. Both sides have a fault at this. The only way to get this to stop is to get both sides to sit down and talk and stop acting like a bunch of toddlers digging their heels in.

You are right. BUT, how many times has Condi Rice gone there, and others from Clinton's administration?

My point is that it should be AUTHORIZED government leaders. Carter has no authority at all and is doing the US a great injustice. Just read StarSailor's post. Hamas just laughed at him/the U.S.

Kev

I have found that most people are not able, due to being busy, not that interested, what not, to keep informed of what really is going on between Israel and the Palestinians. It is way too complex to even begin to try to explain to someone who is just coming in in the middle of it all. One has to know the history of Israel from the beginning of time to be able to comprehend the seriousness of it all.

Karl Rove spoke tonight about what is taking place in the mid east. Now, I know a lot on here do not like him simply because of his being a Republican, but the name "Architect" suits him to a T in sooooo many ways. The man is brilliant, has a deep understanding of foreign policy, yet he does not go flying off the handle like a lot of them do. He maintains his composure, that is why I love listening to him, one can learn so much from him about what is taking place and why it is taking place.

No, people do not know, or prefer not to know about those cute little bombs that the Palestenian terrorists are always attacking Israel with. The walls are to protect the citizens of Israel from the Palestenian terrorists. Can you blame them?

People from Cornerstone TV here in the suburban area of Pittsburgh have been to Israel MANY times. They will tell you a completely different story than what has been posted earlier on this thread.

I have said it many times, I will say it again, if Iran and/or Syria starts on Israel, here comes WWIII.

Hamas is the elected gov of Palestine, not Fatah.

The US wont recognize them because they want their stolen land back from Israel.

Carter is there on his own. He is not there representing any Gov.

The Carter Center, in partnership with Emory University, is guided by a fundamental commitment to human rights and the alleviation of human suffering; it seeks to prevent and resolve conflicts, enhance freedom and democracy, and improve health. While the program agenda may change, The Carter Center is guided by five principles:

The Center emphasizes action and results. Based on careful research and analysis, it is prepared to take timely action on important and pressing issues.
The Center does not duplicate the effective efforts of others.
The Center addresses difficult problems and recognizes the possibility of failure as an acceptable risk.
The Center is nonpartisan and acts as a neutral in dispute resolution activities.
The Center believes that people can improve their lives when provided with the necessary skills, knowledge, and access to resources.
The Carter Center collaborates with other organizations, public or private, in carrying out its mission.

How is The Carter Center funded?
Construction of the Center's facilities was financed by private donations from individuals, foundations, and corporations. These donors, together with multilateral development assistance programs, also support the current annual operating budget of $36 million.

Specific information about the Carter Center's finances is available on our Form 990, the information return that tax-exempt organizations file annually with the Internal Revenue Service, made available for public inspection. Fanta, dear.

Were all these posts necessary? Carter was there undermining the US, he has NO authority!

I know about his foundation and I totally resent that he gets funding with MY tax dollars cause I do not support him in any way shape or form for his betrayal to our country. AND, I do not support his center. IF TAX DOLLARS WERE GIVEN TO FRANKLIN GRAHAM'S "SAMARATIN PURSE" THAT DOES EVEN MORE FOR HUMANITY IN THE USA AND AROUND THE WORLD THAN THE CARTER CENTER, YOU WOULD BE SCREAMING!

IF the federal government did not help fund his center, how long do you think it would be in existence? NOT VERY LONG FANTA.noway Fanta, like it or not, people are fed up with Carter. Now, his wife Rosalyn (spelling?) is a lovely wonderful woman, and she does not do the whacky things her husband has been doing. I always did like her. She is a very sweet woman, very compassionate woman.

I DO NOT WANT MY HARD EARNED MONEY THAT I HAVE TO PAY TAXES ON GOING TOWARD HELPING SOMEONE WHO BETRAYS OUR GOVERNMENT.

Cannot Carter realize that he is no longer President, that he has NO authority? I truly think, and I am not cutting him up, but I do think he is and has been developing dementia.

You should read up and be informed.

Even with the information pointed out for you, you still refuse to be educated.

In 2006 the Carter Center received $115 million from private donations and $4.5 million from Fed grants. With a current operating budget of 36 million they reported a net balance of $415 million!
How much do you think you would hurt them. Would you like a list of the Center's trustee's? I believe Graham is one of them!!laugh laugh laugh
Their facilities are provided by Emory University.
Carter is there, just one stop of many, on behalf of the Center. He is not representing our gov, nor does he hold any public office.
Are you jealous Lindy?

You really should read up and educate yourself before letting the sheeple disease lead you to embarrassment.
