The building had one window slightly open
as if looking at me blearily wakened from some deep slumber. A cool breeze snuck along my arms caressed my neck, and sent shudders down my spine. Here is where I watch the world, sitting on a bench unique, different from the others, much like myself. Cars go by, some loud, some not. People go bye, some smile and wave, some colder than this last lazy hint of winter. I tilt my head in thought, listening to the world. Thrum of tires, whisper of branches, murmur of voices, beat of my own heart, and this beautiful lyrical love fills my heart. And I can't help but sigh. I look at this lazy lusious world, and let an impish grin play on my face. I feel strangely serene, though the wind seems to blow energy through my soul. I listen to the organic mechanics of the world, and let my own cogs become part of the machine. At one with my life for once, my thoughts flow like peaceful streams babbling incoherently, but soothing none the less. Finally, on this pleasant bench, I am at rest. |

Thanks guys. It's always a confidence booster to hear good things about my poetry. Next year I'm taking a class on writing poetry, and I'm not entirely sure what my reviews will be there, so I'll soak up the compliments here while I can! Thanks!

it is fascinating to read famous writers of all stripes and to discover and measure the responses of the other readers in your class. it may be inspiring and fun. but you have already found your voice... |
