Topic: anyone else enjoy "bollywood" movies? | |

They're terrible - terribly entertaining. Oh man, how did I get myself
into this, but, I am starting to like the Indian Hindi-Movies. Anyone else? If you havent seen any, and enjoy foreign films, I recommend "Veer Zara" [helps if you're somewhat familiar with India/Pakistan's rivalry - but not too important]. Its a good story, well produced, and of course fully Bollywood [requisite Marriges, Rain Song, Macho Man, and large assemblies of dance segments that have nothing to do with the story] Anyway, I just saw "Guru" last night. My roommate (indian guy) insists its "all original, based on a true story". Maybe so, but, hmmm it sure felt like Ayn Rands "Fountainhead". |

the bollywood movies are very tacky, yet very cool. I just so happen to
love hindi music, although the men's voices are alot more pleasing to my ears then the females. I love the sound of the situar and the percussion the sounds like a magnified rain drop kind of......lol |

No Bollywood for me. I prefer American produced movies. Was
FOUNTAINHEAD ever made into a movie. I had to teach it one year, so I thought it would be a good idea to read it first. Dang, 2 pages of plot followed by 50 pages of sermons on individualism. Nope, I would have fallen asleep during the first five minutes of the film. THE SOUND AND THE FURY was made into a film also. I was scared to death to watch it just in case it was like the book. |

Oh and let's not forget the Fighting Dragons movie that won an Oscar a
few years back. Sword fights while flying through the trees? Oh, come on. English subtitles? That's hard work. |

They,re cheap knock off,s usually with dopey scripts, and talentless
actors, generally not worth the free admission. |

"Crappy low budget talentless movies"
Did you mean Hollywood? Bollywood? European films - lets face it, doesnt matter where you're from, most films are crappy. The Bollywood films are not usually "knock-offs", they've got their own thing and styleand they are very DIFFERENT in style. They're usually big budget spectaculars. At least the ones that make it to the States. (There happens to be a hindi-theatre near me, so thats how I've gotten to liking them, an 'aquired taste' for sure). |
