and people complain about the war costing so much...

oh yeah, in addition to this...

This was all over the news for a period of time and im sure you can all find somewhat credible information on this, supposedly there are plans that are being worked on by the American government, the Canadian government, as well as the Mexican government, to combine the three countries. The same thing they already did with Europe recently. Our currencies will be combined as well as our laws and judicial system. Rumor has it eventually the military as well. This is supposedly why no one in congress is taking this immigration thing seriously, because, according to their plans, within the next very few years, immigration amongst these countries will be irrelivant. Oh yeah, another rumor says that they are already printing the NorthAmerican currency (Similar to the European Euros). And yes, they have started constructing a joint highway system. I believe it's being started in Texas, should run from norther Canada all the way to southern Mexico.

This all sickens me.

If you go to the government sites to verify those figures, they will not ring true, just food for thought.

USNORTHCOM

http://www.northcom.mil/News/2008/021408.html

...............................................

This month's issue of defense policy journal Canadian American Strategic Review maintains the planning group is "more than 'just an informal discussion group' as we have been repeatedly told, it seems to show some signs of evolving into a formal command in its own right."

Speaking at a January Institute for Defense and Government Advancement-sponsored conference in Washington, Vice Adm. Thad Allen, Coast Guard chief of staff, also urged the development of a maritime equivalent of NORAD. Allen cited his experience during the Sept. 11, 2001, attacks, during which he did not have comprehensive awareness of the maritime domain when it was most needed.

Fraser said it is too early to say whether the planning group will evolve into something else in the next few years.

"What happens to the mandate at the end of the two years? It's still yet to be determined," he said. "And the discussions are now just starting at the highest levels."

"We were not stood up with any preconceived notion about what we would turn into," Cross added. The intent is "for us to try to look at things objectively, to find synergies among things that already exist, as well as to explore areas that NORAD had not covered in the past," she said.

Cross emphasized the planning group's mandate only covers the United States and Canada, but NORTHCOM "is very interested in finding ways to work more closely with Mexico. While we certainly welcome anyone looking at this as a potential model for future relationship building . . . it's not part of our mandate at this time."

Kojack, it would seem that Snopes needs some clarification. One agreeement has been signed and more is in the works.

Well...at least on the issue of the currency, I can tell you they have NOT started any form of printing any form of 'NorthAmerican' pesodollars of any sort.

They are still trying to get ramped up on the 'new' currency designs, of which the $5 was the latest release.

Snopes debunks the story about the 2005 signing of an accord and the currency (Amero?) but not the actual idea of a North American Union. The agreements already signed and those yet to come may lead to that or simply to a closer working relationship between the countries involved.

Time will tell.

Chances are you are right about this. It is just a rumor after all. But if they were to start printing this currency it would be done in private and kept "hush hush", since there are so many that would still be outraged by the idea.

Well, it happened to Europe first. Now North America. Supposedly there are plans for Africa and Asia as well. But i won't get into any of this.

Back to the topic. This was interesting and thanks for the info Kojack. The money wasted on this sort of thing is sad and angering.

(Note: didn't see Ron Paul's name up there... happy )
