Im against them...its like planning to fail. has nothing to do with thinking you should be entitled to any assets he had prior to the marriage |

the thing about prenups..is 1. it implies whoever asks for it, has already predisposed of the marriage, doesn't think it will last, or is lookin forward to the divorce 2. it implies you don't trust the person you're marrying when i left my X hubs, i asked for what i brought into the marriage, which was my furniture, my car, and at least 1/2 time with our daughter wanted nothing else, and don't regret asking for only those thigns there was no prenup, but i feel i was already put thru enough, i just wanted the relationship ended |

So Rob, don't say most.... |

I apologize lily for snapping. I was just being overdramatic in examples of real world uses of prenups in self protection.

that is you, most women let attorneys talk them into believing they are entitled to the guys high school sports trophies. It does not imply you expect failure. Just as easily as you say it shows the man can walk out without repercussion, the flip side is that she could walk out at anytime without any fears of wondering if it is the right move. Either side you come down on it makes the other look like money grubbers. I made my own way in this life, and will continue to do so, as everyone should. Whatever is gained after the marriage is of course fair game "most women let attorneys talk them into believing they are entitled to the guys high school sports trophies" rob, i think that's a blanket statement, not all women do this, it's an unfair statement |

I think that prenups have their place. If a millionair is marrying a stripper or something.... but they both know what is up to begin with.
In real life with NORMAL people, I don't think it is necessary. Know who you are marrying before you marry them. When I married my husband I knew his character, unfortunatly our marriage didn't last, but we still have mutual respect for each other. We did all threw the divorce. Hell we didn't even us an attorney. We used a paralegal just to fill out the paperwork. But we knew that about each other BEFORE we got married, dated for 4 years.... Use your heart when it comes to dating, use your head when it comes to marriage. |

It's ok, the debate has pretty much been weighed in on. The mojority of women believe that they are entitled to anything a man made before they got together. It is pretty much black and white. Unless I get extremely lucky down the road, I will be single for the rest of my life because I will not get married without one

I didn't read this whole post...
I declined signing a prenump once... Because...if the marriage ended..regardless of the situation...I would get $5000.00... He was a cheater...so who was the looser here???? In the end..without a prenump...in the divorce... I signed the home back to him....1.cause it was his prior...2.thats were my children would go when they were with their dad....they were born there.. it was home.. today...yes..I would..as long as it was fair...as i am not a cheater..lier...etc... I don't look at it as the marriage is doomed because of one.. I guess thats from experience and I didn't work my ass off like the man did to get to were he is today..to feel the need to protect himself... because to many ppl marry for momey..male or female.. thats it... ![]() ![]() ![]() |

Unless I get extremely lucky down the road, I will be single for the rest of my life because I will not get married without one wrong assumption in my opinion the prenup is unnecessary if, like lily said, you know the person you're marrying i don't believe i was entitled to anything but MY things, and 1/2 time with our daughter i have NOTHING of his, and the things i left at his place...like say, my candles, or say, laundry...he brought over, anything of his, i gave to him freely rob you're focused on the material things, marriage is not about the material things, i think that's where you're thinking is differing from mine |

you never truly know anyone besides yourself. If we did there would not be any divorces. You're darn right I am thinking material here, and so are all of you. If you didn't think material at all signing it wouldn't matter. if i thought material, i'd have taken him for the house, his truck, and full custody of our daughter, i'd have proven him unfit intstantly with his abuse i knew him well enough to know, that he wouldn't intentionally hurt our daughter, and needed a vehicle to come get her for visitation..so try not to assume you know wtf you're talkin about with your blanket statements rob, they're very unfair i never thought of material when i got my divorce |
