I think it's because people are of the mentality "it's all about me"....they don't think about the other person or how they'll feel..all that matters to them is "what's in it for me?".....

Most liars I have come into contact with feel really insecure about themselves so they lie.
It may not always be intentional to lie and hurt another person. Now there are people who are jerks who lie because they are selfish, or because they want to hurt others. For the most part I think it is just insecurity about who they are. |

bottom line is they are being untruthful, but for them i think it's all just fantasy - they think this is all just fantasy and people couldn't possibly actually be friends, or more, online -- unfortunately, the real people get hurt and they just go on to their next victim. sad, isn't it? go eat a rock, makes u stronger
