I am writing a paper on the scandal of teapot dome for my history class. Did any of your parents tell you about it. If so, please tell me what they told you. As a source I need an interview, so any responses would be great:). Thank you.

I know that the Scandal of Teapot Dome was when Harding got his famous line .... I have no trouble with my enemies, it is my friends that keep me walking the floors at night..... SO true so true huh?!?!?
The scandal was a huge deal back then... about oil or something... HA when is it not about oil!

What ever happened to doing your own research. Try doing a google on "teapot dome" I bet you get a bunch of hits. Perhaps you should spend more time on your homework and less time on the fourms your grades might improve.

I just did a google on "teapot dome scandal" got a ton of hits. Even one link comparing it to ENRON.

I typed in "Scandals of the early 20th century relating to oil business" and got all kinds of hits on the teapot dome scandal. I guess you just have to know what you are searching for.

My theory is this: the Teapot Dome scandal wasn't as much about oil as it was about elite politics. Obviously bribes are nothing new, however, what made the Teapot Dome scandal so controversial in its day was its "big business" implications. After the rise of corporate America at the end of the 19th century, it's safe to say that there was a new type of corruption on the rise--one of corporatism, and one which has morphed into the capitalist market we have today. There was a time when the government acted merely as a steward of the free market in America, a product of our laissez fare origins. I think the Teapot Dome scandal is one of the main events in U.S. history where you see a shift away from that mentality, and the beginning of government corruption and corporate power fusing together to create a public-private partnership. Almost like Mussolini's Italy, just, ya know, without the short people and harsh rhetoric.
