recently was giving outlaw and holy warrior by angus donald.
i am only up to chapter 4 and the quality of the writing is apparant.
outlaw is a take on robin hood that is more believable, however the book is seen through a teenage alan ladds eyes and its his story not robin hoods. 5*

holy warrior is a take on richard the lionheart and the crusade which also includes robin hood leading a great army against the saracens.
