The Loony Bin - part 2
|

I used to see a lot of frogs as a kid. Now it's pretty rare for us to see them. My dad heard this is largely because of insecticides. I'm going to be gone for at least a week this time. Going to be helping with a yard sale and selling some of my own stuff. the slower lizards and some of the other animals like scorpions are gone because of the fire ant problem down here... nasty little bastards |

I could have caught it pretty easy. But it's just a garter or water snake. Not venomous at all. I wasn't there to catch snakes though. My dad and I noticed a couple holes and he suggested a badger could have dug them. I take my dog down their all the time and didn't want her getting attacked by one. So I went to hunt the area and see if I could find any indication of badgers. Didn't see any and so we have concluded that it was likely a dog that dug the holes. I will say that is on the larger end of water snakes I've seen down there. looks like a garter snake, from this pic anyway... http://www.slco.org/watershed/ecosysStew/es_reptiles.html I grew up calling them water snakes. Wasn't till I was in my teens I learned they were called garters. I still like calling them water snakes though. |

.. so this site is more like a clearing house then... are a brokerage firm..hmm.. the types of pics that they accept. all photographic topics.ie. still life. nature. urban jungle. art. sports action.. so on and so on Stock photography sites want it to be used for commercial uses. That is pretty much what I submitted the two landscape pictures too. This other site I guess you could say is like a brokerage. You chose what pictures you want to try to sell and they take care of the rest once you chose what amount you want for your part. |

I also have some pictures on another site where people can buy prints and regardless as to what size they buy I get $20. On that site I chose the markup which goes to me. When someone orders a print the company prints it on metal, canvas or some other media in the requested size and they take what ever they need and add on $20 which goes to me. They take care of shipping it and everything that way. I haven't had a sale on that site at all and nothing really has to be approved either. People can also order gift cards which I get $4 from each girt card they buy. I'd be fairly happy if someone ordered a bunch of gift cards with one of my pictures from that site. It would probably mean I would get more in the end than if they ordered a print.

I haven't submitted any other since those two. I do have others on that site but not many of them.
Submitting one isn't that hard. Getting it accepted can be a pain. To submit one just create an account, take a picture, upload it to the site, choose the categories and keywords for it and then slick submit. If they don't see anything wrong with it and want to use it. Then they allow it to be posted. If it has to much noise or something else then they will tell you and you can try to correct it or just let it go. On the site I am using they will sell the picture to people who want to use it for advertising or something else and you get a percentage of the sale. I currently have made $.15 from one picture. |

This is another one I submitted and got accepted. I didn't submit any others from that trip as I was pretty sure they would not get accepted. |
