I am glad you walked. Nothing is more nauseating than listening to someone rambling on about their ex. We all have them. Other wise we wouldn't be out looking for someone new. Well at least most of us. Sure it can be discussed when first meeting. I guess you can call it an ice breaker. My rule of thumb is 5 minutes. You're either over him/her or your not. Just like being pregnant. Either are or aren't. One girl I dated talked all night about her ex. I wanted to stick a pen in my eye.

The first 12-15 minutes it's either about cop killing, rape, house fire, political scandal, drug bust, school shooting. Then the weather - which half the time is wrong. Then sports. Then the feel good story how fluffy the cat dialed 911 and saved grandma from the fire.... |

When I get the "can we be friends speech" I tell them what they want to hear. But deep down - I know I will never speak to them again. If I'm not good enough now - then I'm not good enough later. I'm not bitter - It's just life. 9 out 10 times do you ever actually hear from them again. The person who gets dumped does the chasing...Just to be a friend.. At least in my experiences with myself or friends..
