I know about the date festival it is one of my favirite local events of the year. yes the mejool dates are good but they are not my favorite, I prefer the zahidi(sp). indio is about halfway between the arizona border and los angeles, or to put it another way something like 30 miles east of palmsprings.

Living in the desert of southern california we have entire orchards devoted to date palms, so I know what they are you however will have to form your own opinion about the dates I had referance to.
