It might not be the official language here in America, but it is the language that is taught in our public schools. Funny.... I was taught English AND Spanish. In middle school, high school, and college. Spanish usually came as an elective. Maybe not in your school but in my school it was an elective English was the primary language |

This is the last thing I am going to say on this thread. I lived in the Miami area for 8 yrs. Every where you went all you heard was spanish. There are stores down there, that if you don't speak spanish you don't get service. My point to all of this was that in respect to the country that you are living in, working in, speak the language. I actually knew someone who lived here 30 yrs and could not speak english because down in the Miami area you don't have to speak english. Please understand I do not have anything against someone speaking thier native tongue. Like I said before I speak German, but out of respect to this country I speak english when I am around other americans. Spend 1 year in Miami and then tell me you feel the same. I should not have to be able to speak spanish to get a job. Until you have experienced what I am speaking about you will never understand. You do realize that English is not the official language of the United States? If you are experiencing so much difficulty where you are living, wouldn't learning Spanish make sense? It's much easier to learn than English. I do not live there anymore. I have no interest to learn another language. Why should I , an american, have to learn another language just to make my life easier You do realize that English is not the official language of the United States? I have read the other thread and this one. I don't understand why people are critizing the spelling/typos and grammar of others. I have seen it happen here before. I would not like to have it done to me. to me it was the irony of someone who was trying to come across as the great protector of the English language when she doesn't care enough about it to learn to use it properly. It was just funny. here we go again about the grammar...have heard of typos where you come from have you heard of reading what you just wrote before clicking "post"? Would you just get over it and move on!!!!! I suspect that proofreading would not be of much use. You have to know what you are looking for. What is your problem with me? Do I entertain you, or do you just not have anything better to do |

Here is the thing... it seems as though you can talk about whatever you want and express your views as you see fit... But if anyone else does that you get upset, said you were bashed, whatever. There is nothing wrong with my grammar or my english as I said last night they were typos. And please lets not go back to what the discussion was about or start bashing my "gramar" I did not see that the poster was trying to do that. She simply stated her views. She is not arguing with you. you did not come into the discussion until later. I was raised in europe, I speak German, I have nothing against anyones language. I was speaking from experiences I have had mostly living in Miami. do you really think that Lilith was incapable of reading the entire thread before commenting? Please stop this now, I see nothing positive coming out of this conversation |
