But the hype with swine flu...isn't it convenient that it coincides with a massive health care reform? I mean who is NOT getting the vaccinations? probably those that can't afford them/don't have health insurance but if you don't get it you may die..but they can't afford it so why wouldn't they vote for a healthcare reform? I just think it is over-hyped for a political agenda...bet you it will calm down all of the sudden once every thing is official with the health care bill.Of course they will say it is because of the vaccinations..but I know it is because they will stop covering it on the nightly news and the mass herd of followers that we have become will listen and go along with it passively talking about how 'lucky' we were to get the vaccination etc etc etc....

I was just reading, that not even Obama's daughter getting any vaccine shots.

http://dancirucci.blogspot.com/2009/10/obama-daughters-no-vaccine.html

Not everyone can take the vaccine, egg is a very common food allergen. I'm not saying she has it, but you never know why someone doesn't do something.

But I also just read the article and they can't get it cause it isn't available to them.

They just closed all the public school in my area because of swine flu.....

But my kid has mono!!!!!!

I'm told the hype is over-rated. Check the CDC website.

I was at the VA a couple of weeks ago and the nurses told
me they've had ZERO cases of H1N1. You can imagine how
many people go through the VA hospital in a week, or in a
month (we're talking about the Houston VA).

I have 3 teens, who all had flu symptoms recently; all
tested (the "quick" test) and only one tested positive,
and the [private] doctor said that test is unreliable.
The VA nurse told me what we're seeing is a seasonal flu.

It IS over rated. The CDC stopped testing for H1N1 a long while back, unless it's a very serious case. The link I posted above tells a lot more.

This is from the CDC website, and this is just normal seasonal flu. So whats the big deal on swine flu? Just a name of another strand.

http://www.cdc.gov/flu/keyfacts.htm

Key Facts About Seasonal Influenza (Flu)
What is Influenza (Also Called Flu)?

The flu is a contagious respiratory illness caused by influenza viruses. It can cause mild to severe illness, and at times can lead to death. The best way to prevent seasonal flu is by getting a seasonal flu vaccination each year.

Every year in the United States, on average:

* 5% to 20% of the population gets the flu;
* more than 200,000 people are hospitalized from flu-related complications; and
* about 36,000 people die from flu-related causes.

Some people, such as older people, young children, pregnant women and people with certain health conditions (such as asthma, diabetes, or heart disease), are at increased risk for serious complications from seasonal flu illness.

Hummm could be due to according to CNN the Death Toll instead of 36,000 they are predicting due to the swine flu that it could reach 90,000 Deaths instead...............whoa

They have already said that the flu season has just started and in fact they have already went past the number of those that normally come down with the flu and we still have 4 months at least to go......

I was just pointing out that people do in fact die of regualar seasonal flu, never hear about that do we?

Here is a GREAT story done by cbs news. Swine Flu over estimated, most likely. : ) Enjoy.

If everyone is so scared to catch it, then stay at home. Other wise, don't see the point in discussing it.

I live in El Paso,Texas. We have no flu or swine flu vaccine until January. We ran out.I can't get it because I have no job.Thanks,Obama.

How is it his fault? You can walk out of the house and get a job just like anyone else. Give me a break and quit trying to blame someone else. Look in the mirror.

they were giving free swine flu vaccines to the kids at my school .. after some research i said hell no... CDC pushes alot of vaccines that arent considered safe enough by the W.H.O. to give to kids or even adults on mass scale... like the hepatitus one that theyre givin to kids at birth... our autism rate has skyrocketed since we started that...

They are not testing for the swine flu anymore, they haven't been in quite a while. Only for very serious cases. CBS did an investigation on it not long ago. It's on their website.

My son is allergic to eggs, will never get a flu shot.

The wording sounds fine, but I think you should take out the pics of your baby and add more of you. If your looking to find someone to date, I think they would wanna see more of you and not the baby. He is cute though. : )

I'm just not going to buy into this fearmongering...I'm not getting any shots, never have, ever will!

Reality is some people died from the flu and the swine flu as well .
If no vaccine how do you protect yourself from the possibility of falling terribly sick ?.flowerforyou .

There is also a reality of people being allergic to ingredients in those vaccines and die from that. My son is allergic to eggs. They use eggs to make flu shots.

BTW, you can go to the CDC (centers for disease control) website and look at the ingredients that the vaccines have. It's disturbing to me.

I think we should judge actions and words and not people because we know noone completely enough to do so. I think labels are tossed around too easily and people should not be judged upon the label someone else gave them but on what they have done or not done.... but thats just my opinion

His actions were molesting children. How is that a label? whoa slaphead

Without the details molestor and sexual offender are just labels. People can be accused and found guilty but still not have done what they are found guilty of. I think we just put too much focus on the labels of others instead of seeing each other as humans. If this man molested children, he needed to be kept away from children but he was still someones loved one himself so I do have empathy for their loss.

I'm glad you do, cause I do not. BTW, he killed HIMSELF, so he did everyone a favor.

You can feel all the empathy in the world for these people, but you really need to reread your post. I feel as though you feel more for the guilty party, than for the victim. And that to me is cruel.

(CBS) If you've been diagnosed "probable" or "presumed" 2009 H1N1 or "swine flu" in recent months, you may be surprised to know this: odds are you didn’t have H1N1 flu.

In fact, you probably didn’t have flu at all. That's according to state-by-state test results obtained in a three-month-long CBS News investigation.

The ramifications of this finding are important. According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and Britain's National Health Service, once you have H1N1 flu, you're immune from future outbreaks of the same virus. Those who think they've had H1N1 flu -- but haven't -- might mistakenly presume they're immune. As a result, they might skip taking a vaccine that could help them, and expose themselves to others with H1N1 flu under the mistaken belief they won't catch it. Parents might not keep sick children home from school, mistakenly believing they've already had H1N1 flu.

Why the uncertainty about who has and who hasn't had H1N1 flu?

CBSNews.com report on H1N1

In late July, the CDC abruptly advised states to stop testing for H1N1 flu, and stopped counting individual cases. The rationale given for the CDC guidance to forego testing and tracking individual cases was: why waste resources testing for H1N1 flu when the government has already confirmed there's an epidemic?

Some public health officials privately disagreed with the decision to stop testing and counting, telling CBS News that continued tracking of this new and possibly changing virus was important because H1N1 has a different epidemiology, affects younger people more than seasonal flu and has been shown to have a higher case fatality rate than other flu virus strains.

CBS News learned that the decision to stop counting H1N1 flu cases was made so hastily that states weren't given the opportunity to provide input. Instead, on July 24, the Council for State and Territorial Epidemiologists, CSTE, issued the following notice to state public health officials on behalf of the CDC:

"Attached are the Q&As that will be posted on the CDC website tomorrow explaining why CDC is no longer reporting case counts for novel H1N1. CDC would have liked to have run these by you for input but unfortunately there was not enough time before these needed to be posted (emphasis added)."

When CDC did not provide us with the material, we filed a Freedom of Information request with the Department of Health and Human Services (HHS). More than two months later, the request has not been fulfilled. We also asked CDC for state-by-state test results prior to halting of testing and tracking, but CDC was again, initially, unresponsive.

This is only part of the story, copy and paste the link if you want to read it all........

I am anti vaccine for my child. He will never have a flu shot for the simple case that he is allergic to eggs. But he will not have the others just so big business can make money off his body.

You might as well do meth, since there are just as many harmful chemicals in vaccines they give to infants.

Why does everyone trust these drug companies?

It's called advertising.

The drug companies make money by selling you a drug that you need every day for the rest of your life. They don't make money by curing anything.

Vaccines have their place. There are some problems.

Vaccines have no place in my life.

There are some that have their place, yes. But it seems to me they are throwing drugs out there left and right without even doin enough research on side effects. It's all Big business now, and people TRUST anything these days. It's quite sad to me.

laugh

The vaccine cannot cause the disease. If you can get and take the vaccine then it is by far the best way to prevent serious illness from the flu.

It is safe and effective. Use as directed!

I got mine for the seasonal flu and will take the H1N1 variety as soon as it is available. Kids got the H1N1 on Mon. We've all already had the seasonal shot. Everybody is just fine!

You believe everything the drug companies tell you?

They have been giving teen girls the gardasil vaccine, and have you read some of the disturbing things that have happened to a lot of them? Even DEATH.

Do you know what kind of chemicals they use to make vaccines? Things you would NEVER ingest on your own. Do your research and see what you can come up with.
