well you could always... um... pleasure yourself... just a thought...

or you might try 'The Devil of Nanking' by Mo Hayder... essentially about one of the 20th century's deadliest massacres...

I agree Fresh...I don't do it for others...I do it for me! I'm almost 51 years old, and although I have earned every grey hair, I certainly don't want to look at them every morning!laugh And I don't care whether people like it or not...Thank Goodness everyone is not the same and there is room for us all to be differentdrinker Oh and by the way...love th red hair!flowerforyou

So Zaps... help me to understand... why is it you don't want to look at them? Does it make you feel old? Does it make you feel unattractive? Just curious, not meaning to offend.

i'm proud of my grey hairs... i've earned every damn one... and if someone doesn't like me based solely on my hair color, for cripes sake, they can just keep on walkin'

For some of us it's not about what others think....maybe you should get off your high horse and except people for who they are and what they choose to do!

I expressed an opinion. Not sure how exactly this put me on a high horse. And I do accept people at face value, and tend to gravitate to people who are confident enough in themselves to not have to change a thing.

What an awesome gift. I bet they'll cherish them forever.

I have something similar that my son made in school when he was nine. It is a small block of wood (2"x2"), painted green, and wrapped with curling ribbon so that it looks like a gift. Attached is a card that says:

This is a very special gift
That you can never see
The reason it's so special is
It's just for you from me

Whenever you are lonely
Or even feeling blue
You only have to hold this gift
And know I think of you

You never can unwrap it
Please leave the ribbon tied
Just hold the box close to your heart
It's filled with love inside
-- signed with his name in a childish scrawl

I still have this sitting on my dresser after 10 years, and pick it up often.

I don't agree with most of the opinions here. I dated a recovering alcoholic for awhile, and although he said it would not bother him if I had a few drinks, I just didn't feel right about doing so when I was with him. And to me, it just wasn't a big deal to abstain because I enjoyed being with him.

I think that is different from what was said here. You did what you did out of respect for this person and his disease and not because he had told you not to.

I didn't read that he has asked her not to. I read that he admitted to not liking bars, or the smell of alcohol. And that she likes to have a few with friends. I just meant that love/relationships are about compromise, and we need to pick our battles. Is having a few drinks so important that you would pass up the opportunity for something amazing?

We live in a disposable society - diapers, razors, contact lenses, cameras, lighters...

It seems that we have let that mindset enter our personal lives, that relationships have become as disposable as a Bic lighter. We're guilty of leaving relationships because its easier to go than it is to stay, because its easier to throw something away than it is fix it when it breaks.

John Steinbeck - his novels were essentially political statements about the state of this country; would really be interesting to see what he would chose to address in today's world
