Great ink Athena...

Consider it a compliment that they think your life is interesting enough to want to pull it apart. Albeit an indirect compliment ;-)

Love your work!! :-)

Hi, Kahurangi, it's nice to meet you... thank you for your support too...

It is difficult for me in the heat of their moments to understand why
they single me out for branding, as my life is truly no different from
theirs. And now, after one crisis has been averted, fences were mended,
my refusal to submit to their ultimate mastery has turned them against
me again. So, only time will tell how this little "drama" will eventually
play itself out. But, I will keep the faith that karma will wave her
magical stardust over all our senses and we will be able to get along,
and focus on the positive, not the negative... hopefully sooner, rather than later.... flowerforyou:heart:flowerforyou

Nice to meet you too :-)

May the balance always be within you flowerforyou

True. But this is reality and you may as well say that everyone should always make the right decisions or that everyone should always be prepared and plan ahead. It just does not happen in reality.

People just have sex. Women get pregnant. Most people don't even think about what they are doing. Especially teens. frustrated

Then their mothers are stuck raising the grandchildren and the children are out doing drugs. slaphead

People can be so stupid. ohwell

People are smart and with education are capable of making intelligent decisions. When I was 16 my 14 year old girlfriend was on the pill. In fact, every girl I met was on the pill until the mid 80s when AIDS had everyone to afraid to have sex at all.

I told my oldest son that having children would be the end of life as he knew it. It would destroy his future before he had a chance to create it. Any young man that doesn't use condoms every time he has sex with a woman is handing over 100,000 little blank checks. Forget collage. Forget becoming rich. Forget ever owning anything nice and bettering yourself. You'll be too busy changing diapers or working to pay child support.

You don't have a life plan? Better make one fast and stick to it or life will run you over like a Mack truck and leave you bleeding on the side of the highway.

I'm just floored that all of the above came out of "why not sex on a first date"

Faahhhhh....i think you just answered your own question there Texy ;-)

First of all...marriage to me is a state of mind, so i don’t see myself as a Mrs Somebody.

The person i choose or have chosen to be my partner would know me well enough to know that my kids and my family(close friends are considered family in my world) are important to me. If he wants to be a part of my family then he’s welcome with open heart and arms by not only me, but my entire family, whom i know, respect and accept my choices. But he should never test me by placing me in a position where it forces me to choose...because he will find himself standing alone.
Sorry bout it...

Strange how things turn out isn't it? One day you're living in total ignorance of a culture and the next day your living it.

Indeed i have been fortunate enough to spend a little time learning about the aboriginal culture....although this is just one of those 'scratch the surface' experiences as the aborigine people are considered one of the oldest living indigenous people in the world. Their culture dates back thousands of years...and is extremely deep and very spiritual. They blow me away with their inbuilt knowledge of their land...i've been out in the bush with the aboriginal people and kids as young as 3yrs old are able to spot djanda (goanna) in the bush from distances that would astound you. Truly!...i couldn't see them until i moved closer to the tree in which the critter was completely still...and even then i had trouble. The kids of course thought me blind! I have a few stories of that time, but one that stands out is when we went swimming in the river...never swim alone in any body of water in the Territory....trust me on this. Splashing around and cooling off in the Daly was awesome on one particularly hot day...when the kids started yelling and pointing at the river. Believe me when i say i didn't hesitate or look around to see what they were pointing at...i got out of that river quicker than i ever thought possible. As it turned out...there was a croc in the water not far from where we were swimming. Crocs are territorial, and this one decided to explore a new territory....much banging and slapping of the water deterred the croc from stopping there. That was pretty scary.

I was most privileged to receive an aboriginal painting from a very prominent artist in the Territory, which i have hanging proudly on one of my walls. The painting depicts the area she is from (Daly River) and is of turtles...which is one of her favourite foods. I would love to spend more time in that community, and if it be so...i will, but am grateful for the time i did.

Sorry for the edit...i dislike typos.

I'm very curious about the native indian culture Z, and would be keen to learn a little of their medicinal and healing techniques, not to mention their natural affinity with the land. Being surrounded by such an invaluable culture i would imagine you've had some experience with them?

I'm beginning to think that both men and women should carry around extra plastic in their respective wallets and purses, and be able to show them on demand when out on a date.

A clear card for STD's
A clear card for no known physcological disorders
A clear card for no known entrapments
A pre-sex card that is signed relinquishing rights to ownership following sex.

Feel free to add more to the list.

But that still leaves the 'total dik' dilemma...and i'm not sure what one can do about that.

spock

Japanese is one of the languages taught in schools over here, although the reason why escapse me...particularly when they don't have a discipline of their own aborigine language taught in schools. Quite possibly because of the hundreds of different dialects...i don't know, but surely there is a universal aborigine language which can be taught. Having said that...i do find the Japanese language more eloquent than other Asian languages. And i'm rambling here...sorry :-)

But getting back to cultures and protocol...if one didn't know what ignorance was prior to being among a different culture...it soon slaps you upside the head when given the opportunity and 'honour' of learning about a new culture. Although most cultures (bar my own) that i've had the privilege of experiencing only go as far as scratching the surface, and i've learnt just enough about them to keep me out of trouble

I've read in this forum a number of times that women decide whether or not they want to have sex with a man within only a few seconds. If this is true, why would you want to put it off? Are you afraid he'll think poorly of you if you have sex too soon? That he won't respect you? Or is it some kind of power play/head game?

No head game....and i agree with Sweets.

The initial physical attraction may be there to begin with...but i'm more inclined to check the rest of the package out through conversation and where his head is at before i decide i want to jump his bones...or not.

He could be drop dead gorgeous, but a total dik.

Fireworks = China

China...home to one of the biggest damn fences in the world. That would be one helluva walk no? Not to mention the history behind, and either side of that wall being absolutely fascinating.

Been there Z?

yeah.. that WOULD be a hike huh.. and me being the history buff I am.. I'm sure I'd love it but nope.. not YET.. although it IS on ma bucket list.. hi YA

from ages 6 thru 14 I was awarded the honour of having a Japanese Obaachan (Grandmother) who first introduced me to the Asian culture that I immediately fell in love with.. somewhat because of that influence.. I spent several years in the discipline of Karate Samurai, Kendo & Tai Chi.. I've also been lucky enough to acquire several authentic Katana & Samurai Swords, amongst a few other Asian 'items', for my home.. I find their culture is absolutely fascinating.. and truly look forward to the day I can visit my '2nd' home

have you been? spock or do ya wanna go too?? bigsmile

Wow!...the swords are a privilege Z...you were blessed to acquire such authentic items.

Definately up there on the 'must experience' list :-)

I'm off to Thailand this year for my annual thaw in winter. I usually head to the top end to do a bit of roaming in when winter has Melbourne by the short and curlys, but i've been there enough times and feel the need to check out other lands. Plus i'm really interested in different cultures and their natural medicines and techniques. Asia holds many...
