Many times the intent of the card is misread. Example, the Death card showing up in the destiny slot. We all will indeed die some day. But the death card reflects change. It is the end of something. It does not mean someone is going to die necessarily. The emperor or Empress can likewise be both a Good thing and Bad thing. Both are dominating influences but again there is a difference between a dominate trait the cards recognize vs. a dominating personality in your life. I have seen cards with a dragon on them and have been told they mean they symbolize struggle but not necessarily a fight. Likewise the Sun and Moon cards can have a host of meanings. With that in mind how does one properly interpret the cards? Well, that must come with practice now! That and a sense for what the cards say since like a dream what the cards say is through interpretation! And in understanding there is light in the darkness! The hanged man is my favorite card and that card is often skewed by most people especially in my deck. haha. |

I have some questions about Tarot Readings. I bought my first tarot deck this weekend (Rider-Waite). I've been using it a bit, and I really enjoy it. Plus the cards are interesting to look at. 1)It calls for a significator(sp?) card which should represent the asker. I was doing these readings for myself. I just don't really understand how to pick this card. I chose the 4 of cups, because I feel like i'm at a personal crossroads, and I don't like my choices. Should I use this all the time? What significance does this card have, b/c it isn't used in the actual reading? 2)In your experience, how literal should we take the readings? 3)How should I interpret a card that doesn't really make sense in the context it's put into? Thanks. 3. All cards can be interpreted into a context, sometimes it just make sense at the time. sorta like when you absolutely adore someone, then you have a falling out and you notice all of their failings =D its all on intuition. dont always accept the books meaning of the card so to speak. 2. Depends on the vibe, some people use it as a guide, some as a specific question, i just use the cards for hints about whats next. so i can better prepare for them. So id say i take em on a 7 out of 10 litteral basis, unless the vibes strong. In which case I trust my vibes and the cards like if it gives me the 7 of swords for a new girl in my life ima take the hint and back up. haha. 1. The personal card so to speak is more just so you have a focus of who you are, you can use it in every reading none of the readings, even have it in the spread but never flip it. So symbolically you start and end the spread without actually being in it. Make sense? The personal card is just to help you find you. ;-P ____ IMO. |
