I've given up on mottos - moved on to mojitos. Much happier now.

Someone once told me that relationships were like a trip to the vet (no...really). Basically we go in like we've got a dog: you hold tight and he'll stay put...you command him. Unfortunately, relationships are more like taking a cat: you need to have a light touch, not a smothering grasp, or else you'll be lucky to pull your hands back in one piece.

You'll be good, don't worry. Just enjoy yourself and don't worry about the dating thing. Keep that happy smile and I'm sure you'll pull a good man.

But I have to tell you...that's a really great hat...I love it. *Never* lose the hat!

Hi Lurchs_sister,

What do you mean about "how men treat women"? I could tell you stories of the women I've met that would curl your hair... I think it's more about the people out there these days.

Hang in there - sometimes it's a matter of connecting, and sometimes it's just a matter of letting go. You seem like a nice person..your time will come. :)

Wearing my 1st-season jersey with Popeye's number on the back, the boys are on fire!

And I can see it here too! Wheeee! Thanks, NASN!

Wait a sec - I said that already. Hot the return too fast. ;)

If I have to share anything, it's that I'm just hanging out here in Europe, working and looking for Ms. Right (these days it's more like Ms D'again).

Actually, I work in Amsterdam but I live a bit south, in Hilversum, the "Hollywood of Holland" - all the TV and radio is done here. Been here 9+ years for those counting, from Denver and before that, Princeton, Noo Joisey.

Any questions?

Hey all!

Made the mistake of not staying online - sorry or the delay in replying! (Squeezing this out whilst I watch Nigella make breakfast. On TV. Hubba hubba.)

Let me see if I can catch up in one shot:

Greets to TheLonelyWalker, carebear19622, Mikey117, BayAreaGal (great goggles!), MsTeddyBear2u, Puffins1958, longhairbiker, FreshMountainAir (great googlily-moogily! And I'd just drive *through* Idaho - idiot!), ChrisIlarraza (Dude - play hard to get ;), TomInSanDiego, peachiegirl28 in Allibamie, bl8ant (sweetie, I'd just burn you out) and or course, goldenstar (ahem. What did you want exported? Ahem.)

Whew! M'kay - made it.

How are things in Amsterdam? Weather is fabulous for October (better than all summer actually), Nigella is doing wicked things with blueberries and maple syrup, and - most importantly - I made it through Monday. How's life out there in non-metric-land?

(Welllll...20 minutes south...)

I'm an American here in the Netherlands, just hoping to meet a nice, single woman the old-fashioned way (on the Internet, of course!)

Anyhoo - hello! How's life in the old US of A?

Similar to a few on this thread, my friends have all married and it's hard to meet a single person in my age range (37-42, just to throw some numbers out). Shouldn't be, but it is.

I've got no delusions on what I'll find here (I really expect nothing) but you have to try, right? And if I happen to make friends, then it's also a good thing. Of course we're all likely here looking for a partner, a friend, a lover...hopefully all three in one... we can only hope. :)
