So you never say "no" unless you really mean "No" and then you will say "NO"?? Is that right? yes
I don't feel that she should get the idea that saying no to everything is a great idea like, for example Its time to eat your vegies "NO" and with 2 yr olds something small like that can not only escalate into something unneccesary but can also hurt their feeelings if not properly explained in a way they can comprehend I'm not trying to be rude, but have you read any parenting books or studied child development? There is a difference between you saying no, and her screaming no. Her feelings, huh? I always said "no thank you", "later", "not yet"...and "no"; but I am the boss. Not my child. My child makes few decisions, but I allow him to feel as though he makes more. She listens when I tell her she can't do something It was more so meant to deal with what to say when she says "why " for the 100th time Well.... answer her question or tell her who to ask then. That is easy. Why the hullabaloo? |

Hey Kris -- i don't know if this will help. But when my niece was her age and the "why question' would come up for 100th time that day I would use children's books to explain her questions. Not all books will explain "her why's" but those books helped me teach her simple things. I don't know which why question she asked, but this worked for me. I will try that MY kiddo loves books any way she prefers them over cartoons even |

I try to answer as many questions as I can... think about it, how confusing this world is and how cool it is once how things work start to make sense This child notices things I would never dream of and totally catches me of guard with some of her questions and responses It makes me wonder how she got so smart and also whether or not I have just totally lost all imagination |

Mine has learned that no means no. I have never budged once I say no. I have yet to receive a "why not". How about explaining the pros and cons of the situation - at their level? I always get down on her level and talk to her like a person instead of a child I also never say "no" to her either. I try my best to use positive words with her that she can understand Of course she is doing something that will harm her in some way then I will most certainly let out a very firm NO So you never say "no" unless you really mean "No" and then you will say "NO"?? I must admit, I feel a bit out of place. The closest I've had to a child was a cat who'd knock things over on purpose and simply not do what he was told. |

K, here's food for thought. I was thinking about the wind yesterday as I was walking and thought that it is so interesting that one can feel the wind and hear it but we can never see it. The effects we can see but the wind itself? No. It seems interesting that something that is so powerful is so unseen. I wonder why. Thanks |

The notorious question handed to parents by young ones on a daily basis.
Any good responses to this other than Why not? It's the only question I have no answer for |
