If the salesmen wouldnt there just to try to sell me the most expensive stuff I would. The last 2 times I was there they managed to make me nearly hit them they were so rude. Also my supervisor went alone and had one tell him and I quote "you need a degree in engineering to prove me wrong" .

Aside from the fact that engineering wouldn't prove anything useful about electronics... Maybe electrical engineering but whatever that dude was thinking he had issues I would rather not trust their solutions.

I am trying to piece together a nice home theater andI have a few questions about parts.

I have a nice reciever (at least I think it is nice and it works for me) but I am working on putting together the speakers for it, and I find myself at a loss to know what makes this or that speaker better.

What should I look for in a subwoofer? Frequency Response? wattage? I can't go too powerful as right now I live in an apartment but what can I do to maximize it?

As for the rest of the 7.1 system I am designing, what makes for the best sounding stage (floor standing) speakers?

The amount of speakers? the look? ack! I don't know!

And for the front center channel what to look for?

Lastly for the side speakers (the 2 extra that the 7.1 adds to the 5.1 setup), are wall mounted "satellite" speakers good enough?

Lastly, the part that has been annoying me all week... What the heck is up with Monster Cable? does it actually improve the sound in anyway? or is it just more commercial propaganda to get you to buy crazy priced speaker wire?

Thanks for reading this, and I know it is alot of questions but I don't know anyone near me that knows enough except for salespeople and I would rather trust random people than them anyday.

How was your time in? Go anywhere fun/interesting?

I only went to 3 places during my time in;
Iraq for a 4 month tour

New Orleans for 1 month for the hurricane cleanup (BTW during this I learned just how scary it is seeing an outer band of a Hurricane wind hit you. I was down there when Hurrican Rita went by.. yikes landfall must really be scary after that).

and I went to Sacramento for 5 days.

How many people here are or were part of the military? (including spouses/friends of, etc)

I like the military, even if I am leaving the Air Force soon myself, I like to know the positive impact it has made on people's lives.

So if you have been affected got any fun stories to tell about them? I always love a good anecdote about that.

Thanks in advance

Just because everyone seems to like little johnny jokes I will post one or two that I know..

Before school one day Little Johnny pays a guy to circle the block in a nice red corvette.

When class starts Johnny gets up and points with his finger following the car.. "Look at that sun of a #@$#$ go!".
The teacher was having a good week so she didn't want a confrontation with johnny and she ignored it. This didn't sit well with johnny and he tried harder next time it passed.
The second time it passed he stood up on his chair ... "Look at that sun of a #@$#$ go!". So, the teacher knew this wouldn't end until she dealt with it so she said "Johnny if you do that one more time you have to get in front of the class and recite a poem of my choice".

So with an evil grin on his face Johnny waits until the car comes again and he stands on his desk now and does it again.
The teacher says "Okay Johnny come in front of the class and recite Mary had a little lamb".

Little Johnny walks up with his head down and straightens up and starts to recite the poem. "Mary had a little lamb, her fleece was white as snow...

And everywhere that Mary went ... Look at that sun of a #@$#$ go!".

There is a song by the band Cake "Stickshifts and Safetybelts" that has a bit to weigh in on this conversation.

Rather than posting lyrics in the wrong topic I will just let you look em up.

I can honestly say my first date ever was my worst.

I arrived early then when she arrived (I was young so we had to be dropped off, or well she did, I walked) and it was the typical "movie date". Well I had waited for her to arrive to get the tickets, thinking just now, I don't know why I waited but anyway. Well right away she complained that I wanted to pay infrotn of about 20 some odd people, ugh. So that was fine and dandy but then uneventful until we got inside. I went to get something to eat, and she proceeded to complain again about who pays so I let her pay that time just so she wouldn't make a scene.

Oh I didn't mention the movie... it fits as one of those "movies to never go to for a first date" style movies... "Don Juan De Marco" Just the thing you want to watch to make a girl feel comfortable, a movie about a guy that has sex with 1702 women (the main character bragged about that number). The girl I was with was squirming totally uncomfortable during the whole thing.

Well as if that wasn't annoying enough her mom arrived early after the movie, and I was left there... still trying to make sense of that.

Anyway hope you get as much joy out of that lack of fun as I do now.

I believed in this when I was 16, but I got a nice dose of "heh yah right" shoved in my face and I stopped thinking it was like that. I think the traditional idea of the perfect person out there for me, (or you or whoever) seems to predetermined. I like a bit of spontaneous even from God =). I don't think life is planned out that much even in heavan or wherever. Then again I could just be making myself look silly but that is my opinion.
