As a mental exercise, let each of us decide at exactly how many deaths the scale tips from the Israeli side to the Palestinian side, at what point an incursion becomes a slaughter, at what point a slaughter becomes a massacre, at what point a massacre becomes a genocide. This is all very important, PR-wise. For eleven days, IDF soldiers have been preventing journalists, medics, rescue teams and aid convoys from entering Jenin. This is how they "protect" the truth inside from all those outside who might want to "misuse" it against Israel. After all, the truth is such a terrible weapon. It would be wrong to allow one side to have more of it than the other. There must be balance. But only regarding the truth. There need not be balance in firepower, for example. It is O.K. that Israel has nuclear weapons and Apache helicopters, paid for by American taxpayers who can't afford to pay for adequate health care, while Palestinians fight with rifles and home-made explosives. well when peace was within reach when Arafat was around,the prime minister of Israel was assasinated so I think Israel has a right to be upset as should the Palestinian people who did not elect terrorists to run their government. |

The Israeli's are not attacking children, but Hamas, is using children as human shields in the locations they are launching rockets at Israel. You are looking at about a 1:25 ratio here between dead Palestinians vs. dead Israelis. Hamas is getting what it wants.Sympathy while usung it's own people as shields.Sad. |

Israel is a small country defending itself.Its surrounded by countries that house terrorists and have vowed to wipe it off the map.Yes atrocities have happened but this is war not girl scout camp.While I would love to see peace come to the region,I believe Israel is doing the right thing. |

Whilst perusing this thread, I became curious to know whether or not former president Bill Clinton had some naval vessel named after him or not. I knew Reagan did, Carter did (a submarine), and Bush 1 did. A brief search produced results that had me in tears laughing. http://www.targetofopportunity.com/USS_Clinton.htm (see site for photograph) "The USS William Jefferson Clinton (CVS1) set sail today from its home port of Vancouver, BC. The ship is the first of its kind in the Navy and is a standing legacy to President Bill Clinton "for his foresight in military budget cuts" and his conduct while president. The ship, constructed nearly entirely from recycled aluminum, is solar powered with a top speed of 5 knots. It boasts an arsenal that is comprised of either a single F-14 Tomcat or a single F-18 Hornet aircraft, both of which are completely unarmed. Although they cannot be launched or captured on the 100 foot flight deck, they do present a very menacing presence. The AV-8B Harrier will never be based on this ship as it could endanger the lives of terrorists and other enemies that seek the destruction of America. As a standing order there are no firearms allowed on board. The 20 person crew is completely diversified and includes members of all races, creeds, sex, and sexual orientation. This crew, like the crew aboard the USS Jimmy Carter, is specially trained to avoid conflicts and appease any and all enemies of the United States at all costs. An on board Type One! DNC Universal Translator can send out messages of apology in any language to anyone who may find America offensive. The number of apologies are limitless and though some may sound hollow and disingenuous, the Navy advises all apologies will sound very sincere. The ship's purpose is not defined so much as a unit of national defense - but instead in times of conflict the USS Clinton has orders to seek refuge in Canada. The ship may be positioned near the Democratic National Party Headquarters for photo-ops and can be used extensively for social experimentation, and whatever other worthless jobs, the ex-Commander-in-Chief and his wife can think of. It is largely rumored that the ship will also be the set for the upcoming season of MTV's "The Real World". The ship was renamed and commissioned USS William J Clinton when someone realized the USS Blowfish was already taken."

Personally,a chain gang of violent people in pink pants out in a neighborhood would be frightening .Non violent offenders should be doing community service not prison or chain gangs.

never, my stance is twofold minus the fact they told me I could not enlist without a family care plan..(some one to take my children while in basic and possible deployments)...I also do not think women should be soldiers..not because they can't do it, but because they are a hindrance by the sheer nature of physiological makeup....I was married to it though Thanx for dissing your sisters in the military.Personally I could never serve...I hate guns,but to have a 50 yr old man come out of a 15 yr hiatus to go to war is asisinine.He did his time. |
