I have some friends that moved to California from the Philippines. They are some of the sweetest, friendliest, happiest people I have ever had the pleasure of meeting.
I also hear interesting stories about life and the cultural diversity on their 7107 islands. A place I definitely want to visit some day.

I agree we have a small community of Filipino's here that work as nurses and other professions and they are always nice and greet you with a smile when you interact with them.I am sure the Philippines is a great place to visit, the food and the culture and yes the people. I also have it on my bucket list.

One of my neighbors is Filipino. She's always smiling. I never see her without one. She can be having the worst day, and she still greets everyone in the apartment complex with a friendly hello and warm smile. If you go over to her apartment, you're going to eat. Even if she just finished a meal, she's going to whip up something.
I've had similar experiences to you, Jack, with Filipinos in this area. Nice and greet with a smile when I interact with them.

Thank you Topher and Jack for sharing your observations and experiences with your friendly Filipino neighbors. I believe a good natured smile , kindness and gentleness can do magic.....affecting people by touching their hearts makes a difference. A happy and harmonious environment is a wonderful place to live inhappy  I hope someday you'll have a chance to see the beauty of my mother land Philippines happy  waving

Touching people's hearts is magical. A smile and a kind word make a world of difference.

Whether it's online (I've talked to several women in the Philippines online as well) or in person, they all seem to be the kindest, sweetest, nicest, happiest people. I don't usually make an assessment based on interactions with a few people, but I have never met someone from the Philippines who doesn't display these characteristics. I'm sure there are exceptions. There are a few in every crowd. All my experiences with Filipinos have been pleasant thus far.

I do hope I can visit a few of the islands someday. Maybe even meet in person some of the folks I've chatted with.

Thank you for your kind words Tophersmile2 happy flowerforyou you are one lucky person to have met these beautiful people. Though yes, there are exceptions, and I believe everywhere in the world there are kind and rude individuals. As the saying goes....."Use your smile to change the world; don’t let the world change your smile."smile2 Wearing the best smile wherever we go will surely win a friend and make a difference smile2

I hope you will visit one dayhappy smile2 pretty sure these folks will welcome you with the red carpethappy flowerforyou waving smile2

MAKE A DIFFERENCE
To make a difference in this world there is a place to start.
There's many things that you can do and it starts with in your heart.
You take a look within yourself and ask "What can I do
To make this world a better place for me and also you?"
You start by being kinder, or maybe more polite
To a friend or neighbor, now that would be just right.

CHORUS:
How can you make a difference
It’s not that hard it's true.
You can make a difference
By being your best you.

Another way to help the world is thinking first of others.
You start by sharing what you have with sisters and with brothers.
Next you help with neighbors in your neighborhood
By being nice and friendly and doing what you should.
Your neighborhood will then become a better place to live
And you can start to make it so by learning how to give.

CHORUS

Try to make good choices, now that's the place to start,
For when you make good choices you work to do your part.
Always try to tell the truth, please never tell a lie.
Be real honest, yes you should and here's the reason why.
The world would be a better place if everyone would be
Honest in their work and play in their community.

MANNERS MATTER EVERYWHERE
Manners matter they really do.
Like a mirror they reflect on you.
So use your manners everyday,
No matter where you work or play.

When you meet someone you say “How do you do?”
In Spain, “Como estas?”.
In China, “Ni hao wan.”
In France, “Comment se vas?”

When you want something you say “Please”.
In Spain, “por favor”,
In China, “Chi’in”.
In France, “si vous plait”

When you get something you say “Thank you”
In Spain, “gracias”.
In China “Shi shi nee”
In France, “merci”
In Hindi, thank you’s “Tun ya vad”.
In Japanese, “Duomo”
In Farsi, “Mamood”.

You’re welcome, “Da nada” in Spanish.
In Japanese, “Dou itashimashite”.
In French, “Je vous en prie”.
In Farsi, “Hahesh minkonam”.

A SMILE AND A KIND WORD
When I'm feeling sad and someone asks
How can I help you?
I say what my daddy always said
Just a smile and a kind word will do
Just a smile and a kind word will do

Chorus:
Just give a smile any kind of little smile will do
A few kind words like my daddy taught me to
Just give a smile any kind of little smile will do
A few kind words like I'm lucky to have a friend like you

So if a friend is feeling down there's something you can do
Just try a smile and a few kind words
It's sure to help them too

WHEN YOUR MANNERS SHINE
What do you say when someone says hi? (you say)
Hi how are you.
That's what say when someone says hi. (you say)
Hi how are you.

Be polite – say nice things
Then you'll see what good manners bring.
You'll have friends all the time
When your manners shine.

What do you say when you leave the room? (you say)
Bye, see you soon.
That's what say when you leave the room. (you say)
Bye, see you soon.

Chorus

What do you say when someone helps you? (you say)
Thank you very much.
That's what say when someone helps you. (you say)
Thank you very much.

Chorus

What do you say when someone needs help? (you say)
May I help you?
That's what say when someone needs help. (you say)
May I help you?

Chorus

Please, is a good word.
You say please when you want something.
Use good manners when you ask say please.
Say please, say please...

FRIENDLY WORDS
Let's sing a little song about the words we say
To make people smile every single day
Friendly words are what we use
So think about the words you choose.

Hi and Hello and How are you?
Are friendly greeting words through and through
Another friendly thing that you can say
Is "You look very pretty today"

But if you say "peee-yew, you stink",
That's just not so nice, don't you think
Gross and yuck and disgusting
Are not friendly words for you and me

So use nice words and then you'll see
It's so cool to be friendly
So use nice words and then you'll see
It's so cool to be friendly

Many people are living in fantasy land.

Don't settle for anything but true love.

If they are waiting for true love they better get prepared to wait forever.

Magic happens with true loves first kiss. Sure.

Rainbows and unicorns run free over the 100% organically grown non-gmo food crops that are plentiful world wide too. sick

Love has a wide range from a tiny bit to dying for another.

Love has various stages. Many people equate "true love" to the initial romance stage.

When problems occur that magical true love disappears. Nope! It was never there to begin with.

The only way you'll know is when you are in the last stages of life with your true love and the other person will do anything for you at their own peril. Not just because they don't want to be left alone in this world but because they don't want you to suffer at all. The odds of this is happening is very small.

I have been a round many people just before their last stages of life and into their final stages of life, not just family members, and it is amazing how selfish they become.

Only jaded people don't believe in the existence of true love....it is definitely not living in fantasy land because I have witnessed the love of my parents. Every relationships have there ups and downs, fights, arguments , all challenges are simply a test of love. True love is a sacrifice not just for your own happiness but for the family that you both have created, you are willing to go through thick and thin to make your family intact and build a HOME not a house but a shelter of love.

Not true. Saying ONLY jaded people don't believe is an easy cop out. I'm not jaded. I'm just a realist basing things on what I've witnessed and experienced. I tend NOT to so easily accept what others have written especially when their intent was to entertain not publish scientific research papers.

People stay together and go through thick and thin for many reasons that have absolutely nothing to do with True Love. It all depends on their motivations. Love may have given birth to a family but sometimes fear in many forms keep families together not True Love.

Maybe our definitions of True Love are different. IMO, You can not base a decision whether a couple is in True Love or not by their actions. You need to be able to understand why they made those actions occur. Intent is extremely important.

True love IMO, is if you are wanting and willing to do anything for another person without regard for ones own selfishness and follow through to the best of your abilities to make it happen almost all of the time.

Sorry, I didn't mean to offend you in anyway when I said JADED. I was making a general statement not particularly directed at you. There are people who have lost their belief in true love because of their past experiences or observations with their surroundings. I believe you are a realist and I am too based on my experience and what I've witnessed. I agree people have different motivations or intentions in life and for SOME PEOPLE love is their motivation. What keeps people together is love, their willingness to sacrifice their own happiness. For the act of true love is sacrifice and being unselfish , giving up oneself for the good of all. I agree we may have different understanding of what true love is..... but I must say you nailed it on your last statement and I totally agree......"True love IMO, is if you are wanting and willing to do anything for another person without regard for ones own selfishness and follow through to the best of your abilities to make it happen almost all of the time." And this can happen to some people who are fortunate enough to find true love.
